They are on a ship called the bebop and its an epic space drama that I heavily suggest. Also I'm trying not to give any major spoilers to any part of the story

It's a wizard photographer and they went to school in a place where owls flew over their daily breakfast, the headmaster had a pet phoenix, and they pulled screaming baby plants out of pots in a required class. Odds are good a domesticated deer isn't the weirdest thing they've seen.

if the deer grew up around humans it's not that big a deal. There's a park near me where some live and they just casually walk up to people, to get pet, even to people with dogs. The stags are usually a bit harder to get close to, but if you have chestnuts they will legitimately chase you until you feed them.
And they will drool on you.
I'm convinced tumblr is actually 10 people with multiple accounts and some of them are unaware because they have multiple personalities.
