the jeep rolling is sadly one of my subscribers, I met him here in MOAB and he righted reignited and rolled out. all good.
thats beasty..good for him i was wondering...but now that one video you have with dashcam footage of jeep rolling down in front of him is crazy AF! I used to live on shelf rd from cripple creek to canyon city CO.. Twice last summer trucks went over...bad stuff..i was outside when they drove by at like 40mph...i yelled profanities at them and told them to slow down...and sure enough 4 shierff cars and 2 EMTs fly by heading down from cripple creek...then the MedFlights start coming...
remember Campbells cupasoup packs, they're small like the fire starter from meal kit and they can bend, be punctured and anything really, as long as double bagged like you do, its a good addition for a quick bit of nutrients and warmth if hunting and trapping fails.
Those oxo cubes are too bulky and only broth but other throw them in the kits too.

About 10 years ago, I was wheeling in Montana, alone. Going alone is NEVER a good idea, but I was young and dumb. Long story short, I was very inexperienced and was doing some old mining trails, and ended up snapping my steering rack in two. (Yeah, seriously.) I was trailside camped for two days before a group of Jeepers came along and "rescued" me, as I was completely unprepared with no SAT phone etc. One of them had a SAT phone and called for a trail tow. Four thousand dollars later, I was off the trail and in town. Had I not been prepared for a breakdown with enough supplies, I woulda been in bad shape when they found me. Learned a lot of lessons from that... I never wheel alone, I now have a SAT phone, and enough supplies to last at least 10 days in the wilderness.
As soon as I get home from work I will definitely be checking this out

I also wanted to add that the MOST important survival item you will never hear about from survival "experts" .....is a clean, dry pair of extra socks. Num 1 survival item you actually need. Chances are Better then good your walking out and keeping your feet in shape enough to do so is your greatest survival prospect.

Wow my week too! Welded a hole in my brake line. A Pos. wire had come loose and was arching and burning when I popped the hood. I had noticed the smell and smoke...I had to hike 5 miles into Home depot for JB Weld and brake fluid. Glad I hadn't gone deeper. Yet. Wasn't ready for that hoke but after a rest and some lunch back to my vehicle maps says 2 hrs 3.5 till dark...made it back. Set up camp. Made dinner ate. Made repair. Slept. Next day fixed. Second coat. Spent day hiking around my surroundings. Elk everywhere. Cougar prints. Time to go! Lol.

Activated charcoal capsules would be a good addition to your bag. I have Mylar and quick clot in my kit as well. Also, sanitary napkins could be used for wounds in a pinch.

One thing to keep in mind about waiting for rescue, even if your family knows exactly where you are, you're going to be there for at least 24 hours. Been there done that.

Richie, you know, I always have kept everything I needed in my truck. I never really thought much about what would happen if something happened to the truck while I was out and I had to bail on it. Nothing like a quick bag like that anyway. I would need like 20 minutes to put everything in a backpack before I was ready to get out. Not too good if it was on fire!! Thanks for the tip! And don’t forget to bring your personal protection tool as well!! Take it easy, brother.
