    0:12 THAT IS EXACTLY WHY I WANTD OLMO..... TIGHT SPACES!! Dani Olmo is the PERFECT 10 & False 9 for a Barça system. I kept saying HECK NO to him playing any wing, not even the inverted version that Raphinha and Lamine are playing now. Olmo MUST be in the CENTER of the park. His playmaking, shooting, dribble, control, touch, vision and everything about him is PERFECTLY what Barça NEEDED last summer. Yes, a winger too but more so under Xavi system which rely heavy on wide wingers... Flick team doesn't rely on wide wingers which is why Raph is doing so good now.

    Iniesta was my favorite player since he became part of the first team, not even starter. When he left Barca I stopped watching football cause the golden era was over and cause NBA became my primary focus. Last summer I was around my 11y.o. nephew during Euro and was quite shocked to know that he's a madridista. I wasn't plan to watch Euro-24 but because of him I did. The way spanish team played brought the feelings I had while watching Barca. I didn't know Dani Olmo at all but I liked him immediately cause he immediately reminded me of my beloved Andres Iniesta in slightly more attacking role. After his second game I was captivated by his play. I said to my nephew Matvey that if Barca buy him I'll start watch their games again. Well, it happened! And boy, I have so much joy every game, well almost. Lamine is the best, Pedri is the magician, and still Dani Olmo is my favorite player now.

      @FATI_SZN 18 дней назад

      @@geoffreykeenan5914 I think Flick has finally understood we need more rotations so that November-December period doesn't happen again.
      Even then we played well and were the better team in most games (Sociedad was probably our only deserved loss and we also had a legal goal ruled out).
      But now he's gonna start involving more players from the bench to help rest others. Olmo needs breaks every so often to stay fit, Lewandowski will get rested by olmo's false 9 and other tactics, cubarsi yamal raphinha pedri also need rest too so fermin, gavi, torre and frenkie will need to step up
      And Christensen, araujo, and Eric will need to help rest cubarsi and inigo when hes back from injury. Eric can also put in a shift in midfield if needed

    • @geoffreykeenan5914
      @geoffreykeenan5914 18 дней назад

      @@FATI_SZN What you say makes sense with regard to rotations and giving players rest. But I don't know that I would look at our loses as should-have-won's. They were close games but, the way Barcelona was playing, I could see them losing more close games. And in order for Barcelona to contend for the league, it has to start dominating league games, not wining by a thread.
      I don't want Olmo to replace Lewandowski because Lewandowski needs rest, I want Olmo to replace Lewandowski because the offense (and midfield, and defense) played qualitatively better with Olmo in that position. I don't think it was a one-game phenomenon, could be wrong about that.

      @@geoffreykeenan5914 Every time we've dropped pts there's been an asterisk next to it. Obviously it doesn't excuse the fault but it gives some context
      Monaco: red within 10 minutes, game was already over as we were away
      Osasuna: played essentially a C team away at one of the hardest stadiums in La Liga to rest players. They were on good form as well. A loss was expected as Flick underestimated them
      Real Sociedad: Lewandowski's legal goal ruled out but the performance after was horrible. Probably one of the few times we've been dominated this season
      Celta: Casado red with which they score right after and kounde gifted them a goal. We threw the game away. Otherwise it should've been a win
      Las Palmas: we were the better team but missed a lot of chances. You could argue the ref didn't award us some penalties but our finishing was off the whole game. 2 low xG shots won them the game and maybe Pena should've done better with them
      Real Betis: another decent performance that was thrown away at the end with a penalty mistake and after that momentum was in their favor for the equalizer. Not even ferran's could help us stay maintain the lead
      Leganes: conceded early then had to play a packed bus. We had the chances but again we couldn't finish
      Atleti: probably our 2nd best performance of the season after the last game against Betis. We were unplayable and a few mistakes cost us the points.
      Now in all these games there were a few ref mistakes but I don't care about that. In this stretch of games we severely underperformed our xG and that type of finishing only comes when we fail to rest our players. Soon with more breaks and rotation I think we'll be back to good form (no surprise we played well after every international break and some players got a 2 week break but not as well with the 2 month stretch without one) Flick just needs to rotate the squad more
      We were also welcoming back some injured players. I feel that recently we are playing better with more control and don't have to waste as much energy as before. We also have our full squad essentially back apart from Bernal and MATS (Inigo will be back in like 3.5 weeks)
      I think Flick is also understanding the best way for us to remain mentally stable and secure the win in unpleasant game states. We didn't collapse against madrid and that's a good start. It's better that we went through this bad form early in the season rather than have it be in March/April and lead to us losing everything. We still have a chance at 3 more trophies

    1:48 true, but he wont have this much space against every team, especially top teams. Lewy always had a defender on him, now they will try to track down Olmo in False 9 also. Advantage in this situation Olmo have over Lewy is that he is better at his overall movement, first touch, close dribbles and finding paces because that is his natural game. Lewy may have been able to be better at that at a younger age, cant expect that consistently now.

      @@tacticsfcb3952 But if Barcelona were to prioritize using a false nine, like Olmo, against smaller teams, it might not appeal to top-tier strikers who prefer playing in a more traditional forward role, regularly starting in every game. A high-profile striker would want to know they are a central part of the team's plans, not just a rotational option. If Barcelona's tactics relied heavily on a false nine, it could deter top strikers from joining, as they may seek clubs where they can play consistently in their preferred position, especially against both big and smaller teams.
