We didn't go for the DNC's version of technocratic tyranny, I'm sure not desiring Elon's vision of the same thing. I spent 20 yrs in the US Navy and retired back in 2017. After that I took the advice I had recieved from numerous people over the years and used my GIBILL (tax payer dollars) to enroll in a bachelors degree program. That program was in Information Technology aka IT and I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.92 and a member of multiple honor societies. I can't even get an invite to a job interview let alone fail to get hired. I'll put it into perspective for you all out there... the government paid for me to go back to school and that same government as on numerous ocassions over the years said to go in to STEM, and then its tells me to fuck off and goes and hires a bunch of Dineshes and Patels, leaving yet another veteran to sit on the side lines.
End of the video. Loads of downwind nonsense making the American worker unable to compete at his actual capacity. I don't like what Elon did either, but the full stick I think will be detrimental long term. Reforming our internal issues and giving them more of a carrot will yield better solutions long term.
Because STEM education in the US does not train students to meet the requirements of the STEM labor market. Edit: Go to indeed or your job board of choice and look for entry level jobs that are STEM. They all want 3-5 years of experience for that ENTRY LEVEL job. I am arguing that is because Universities do not train STEM students the basic business functions their degree supports.
@@hilkmeister1382 Does it not? Does a CS Degree from NYU not equal a CS degree from Mumbai University? Is there really anything more to it than Pajeet being more than happy to work more hours for less pay?

I know an electrical engineer who graduated with honors and a 3.9 gpa that worked at target for a year. He just recently got a job that is exactly the median household income at a small business. Engineer graduates in America only have a 55% chance of becoming engineers.
It took me 2 years after graduating college to get a SWE job and that was via only via referral. In that time I sent out over 1000 resumes to entry level positions and only got 3 interviews total. Americans especially white Americans are not even being given a chance to show up. Anyone who tells you we have a labor shortage is either a liar or out of touch and their opinion should be disregarded.
Bro I’m an electrical engineer, and I got so lucky to actually get a job in my field, yet the corpos constantly act like there’s no unemployed candidates willing to work.
Probably didn’t train more as a software engineer during his undergraduate. Most of the electrical engineers I know that got jobs did so early on in their careers because even though their degrees said electrical engineering, they really took mostly software engineering courses during undergrad. The ones that didn’t learn to code as they say quietly got jobs in banking and later either got law degrees or MBA’s.
It won’t. Even if the tech billionaires get their way there’s more to American jobs than just “tech”. this is all being blown out of proportion to divide the MAGA movement before Trump takes office

Colleges are also part of this pipeline. The rich foreign kids flood our colleges, and those colleges have local deals with companies that then buy up H1Bs. Its not just the jobs, but the degrees to get the jobs. Elon says we need to just start our own schools, but then doesn't realize why Americans are being denied the chance to get those degrees.

I've met maybe three, but that's a very small percentage of the whole. Most of them are terrible. The "schools" most of them attend overseas do not educate them in anything.
@wormfood83 When you get a massive pool of graduates in the millions who enter a certain career regardless of how much affinity or passion they have for it (I.e they only enter the field because there parents don't even know what it's about but it sounds prestigious/gives caste prestige) you cut corners...the whole corners
You must not have worked at good companies. I've met a lot of white Americans that checked out early and we're lacking experience or u willing to grind at a normal level.
*"the implied threat of pulling their sponsorship for the H1B visa"* Of course, the solution to THAT problem is simply to stop making 'sponsorship' a requirement for the Visa. Simply let BOTH foreigners and Americans alike EXERCISE their rights of Free Association and Free Trade, etc (ie EXERCISE their rights to their OWN life and their OWN effort instead of being treated as the PROPERTY of the State, to be disposed of as IT sees fit, to satisfy ITS desires). Then there is NO threat - ie no G UN of government being put to ANYONE'S head. Your complaint is eliminated! Or is your complaint here really just that you WISH the government G UN would be put to DIFFERENT heads instead? In other words, is your complaint here simply that the WRONG people's rights are being VIOLATED?

What I’ve found working in an international company is that the US is the only country that doesn’t prioritize hiring Americans. Even Indians in the US seem to fire everyone who reports to them who aren’t Indian. I saw the same thing in grad school.
Same thing in Canada One of my old jobs they hired an Indian supervisor fresh out of college, and immediately the only people he hired was other Indians. It got to the point where one of my coworkers (WHO HIMSELF was of Indian descent) joked that our supervisor was turning the place into a refugee camp.
I can really speak to this on both sides, I’m half Indian, my father came here on a visa 30+ years ago back when the tech field was still new, as someone who was born here, I foolishly got a degree in STEM thinking it would still be that easy, little did I know it’s anything but that. Tech recruiters (also Indian) prefer Indians born and raised there over all Americans even those of Indian descent. H1B is far more controllable in their eyes, I’ve seen people get offered jobs without a proper interview. I’m over here with a STEM degree trying to become a police officer instead of an engineer after getting sick of the process. Affirmative action is needed for all Americans over non Americans, is it a socialist POV? Yes, but who cares, do what’s right for the country’s people over another country’s people.

My husband and his cousin both have engineering degrees. Both had the same problem after graduation. The job postings were 1/2 of one page of entry level, and all the rest demanded years of experience. The entry level jobs were snapped up before you could even fill out the application. The others? Had been languishing unfilled for up to 18 months. My husband was lucky. He IS top talent. One of his professors took pity on him. She found him a 2-month gig taking over an abandoned 6-month research project. Getting it done in time meant 80-hour weeks in the lab. He got noticed by the owner of an R&D startup that leased time at the facility. "I see you're willing to work long hours for almost no money..." His cousin? Gave up after a year and got a job pruning trees. The entry level jobs were going to H1Bs. And when those guys go back home, all you've got are engineering grads who've been pruning trees instead of earning experience as engineers. Unless they're women, indigenous or black. Which is a whole 'nother beef.
I'm tired of the, "We need to stop the infighting!" When someone you voted for is backing off their promises let them know. Not speaking up out is how conservatives got to the place we are now.
I think back to a speech Ben Shapiro made a few years back that was something to the effect of "If you're poor in America, just uproot your entire life and move." Somehow I don't think he has that same stance on Israel.
That is literally America's entire history. People left Europe to come to America for opportunity. People moved to the Western US from the East to find opportunities. @@kitalalaris I agree...the point of America first is to put Americans first..not import cheaper labor
Elon is South African
There is a way to cut government spending but ultimately their government spending cuts are going to eliminate jobs. First the Dems came in and opened the borders. Now the Republicans will come and cut government assistance and introduce immigration to lower the standards of high paying jobs. Notice how we're always told this will provide a net benefit but as it stands there is no evidence that the cost of living will not continue to increase for the average person.
I was called racist for saying that people shouldn't be so enamored of Vivek while being illiterate to Indian cultural morays. He acted like a used car salesman then and now.

Elon has taken a stance that if someone needs education they aren't worth hiring, and also that someone who isn't already trained for a role also is not worth hiring because he agreed with that Twitter post saying anyone who needs training is, quote, "Too r-tarded to train."
He believes that someone can just be born with a Master's Degree, two years of experience and knowledge of every industry-specific software and workflow that might be used, I suppose.
Yeah, he's been rich for a little too long. Very few people have the ability to study these things for funsies when they are trying to scrape by. Very tone deaf.
Yet he thinks it's fine to import people who then need trained by Americans, before said Americans are fired in favor of those freshly trained imports.
There was no way I could study working full time stocking shelves in retail. I can just pass university courses with a cushy security job. I can barely find any internships in my locality that I can apply to, and it has lots of tech companies. I might have to give up my job and shell out some motel money if I am lucky and am offered an internship out of town.

I contracted at Microsoft a few years back as a software engineer. Over 90% of the coders were Indian, with a smattering of Chinese and Russians. I'm none of those, and got in because I could get a federal security clearance for the project at hand. Most middle management was white. It was a strange environment, although I liked the work itself.
It’s a very very dark situation…. Too many managers don’t realise they aren’t actually talented and dragging in dummies doesn’t do much to help the future.
Ask yourself why Microsoft is buying out old nuclear power plants to ""power"" their """ai""" (machine learning algorithms) farms... (what the indians were imported for)

The good news is that Trump can still change course since he isn’t in office yet. If he really wants to be remembered as the man who Made America Great Again he has to put Americans first and end the H1-B program.
Well don't end it. So many companies rely on it. I can tell you as someone that's worked in immigration processing H-1B visas, it was MUCH harder to get them approved in the government during the Trump administration. so rest assured, he's not making it easy.
Yeah. If the proof is in the pudding, can we all at least wait until we get it before complaining about the taste? The amount of outrage over this given that fact reeks of someone doing ops of the PRIDE variety to spool this up harder than it should.

Rare Trump L. I distinctly remember your previous videos on how Elon was certainly far more liberal than people give him credit for.
Elon would probably still be supporting Democrats if they didn't go completely batshit insane. I think he's even floated the idea of funding moderate Democrats to primary Democrat incumbents in deep blue areas. He's a firm believer in the '90s neoliberal consensus.

The other problem with "the vast majority are for skilled jobs in computer fields" is that in today's economy...THAT'S THE MAJORITY OF THE JOBS! H1B was never meant to replace entire segments of the labor economy, that's why there was a limit on the quantity.
It's not the .majority of the jobs. The majority of jobs are service jobs. Not only that, but what exactly has tech done to make our country better? I mean it seems to have been getting worse at the same rate tech has grown.
My husband is in software engineer with 15 years experience and can’t find anything. Mostly competing with South America for remote work.
@@smelltheglove2038 I exaggerate (only slightly, btw), but my point remains that "unskilled jobs" is a MUCH smaller (and shrinking) portion of the market. The law was meant for German doctors at the top of their fields, British research scientists with unique specialties, and so forth. Not umpteen hordes of entry level engineers, not replacing entire sections of the labor market. Any politician who said that quiet part out loud at the time of passage would have been run out of DC on a rail.
@barnbwt I'm not sure you understand just how many "unskilled" jobs there are. From delivery drivers, the entirety of kitchen work, retail, etc. I'd go out on a limb and say it's something like 20:1 unskilled vs skilled.

"I see you're willing to work long hours for almost no money..."
His cousin? Gave up after a year and got a job pruning trees.
The entry level jobs were going to H1Bs. And when those guys go back home, all you've got are engineering grads who've been pruning trees instead of earning experience as engineers.
Unless they're women, indigenous or black. Which is a whole 'nother beef.

That is literally America's entire history. People left Europe to come to America for opportunity. People moved to the Western US from the East to find opportunities. I was not expecting people in the comments section to spit on the American founders like you did but I guess some people just hate America.
