    Heyy second time doing your recipes anyways so basically i didnt have buttermilk so i put 1cup of milk and vinegar
    Now i dont have sugar nor powdered sugar i only have 1 cup of powdered sugar idk how to make the frosting:( but anyways im so excited to try the cake♥️

    This cake almost had a muffin like consistency. I think I’d add 1/4 cup oil for a moister cake. The frosting was absolutely delicious although I did equal parts cream cheese and butter. (6oz each) I like more cream cheese in my CC frosting. I left everything else the same.

    Hello thanks for the recipe! I live in somewhere that buttermilk is uncommon, can I replace it with something else like plain yogurt?

      Hi, u can make ur own buttermilk. Try 1-2 tbsp vinegar to 1 cup milk, stir n allow to rest for 1 min. U'll notice when u stir the mixture it will coat the spoon.

    Ok! This was a really good cake! Though, would have liked it if we didn't use poppy seeds. It ruined the entire flavour.
    The lemon cake part was good, but when you took a crunch of the poppy seed flavour, it tasted like you're having something you don't want. The buttercream also is a winner along with the cake, but poppy seeds could have been replaced chia seeds or flax seeds. More healthy and more yum, (at least according to me :-))
    But love the overall cake, Natasha!

    Natasha .. I always bake a cake but it fails when cooking blooms when I turn off the fire and open the oven to take out the cake goes blowing and becomes like biscuits hard why😔? Thank you 💗

      I made your Tres Leches cake.
      I am from Puerto Rico, and you find tres leches in every bakery. They garnish it with a bit of cinnamon.This is really common in P.R.
      So, when I recreated yours I first garnished it with a touch of cinnamon before I added the strawberries( I did not have rasberries so, cinnamon gave it a nice touch).

    I made this cake. I measured out all ingredients and followe directions but my cake came out really flat and dense. Not sure why. I used reduced fat Buttermilk... could that be why? It still tested so yummy but that cake part...not sure what I did wrong

    I want to relate to you a story that was on the news about the use of poppy seeds that may make you rethink the use of poppy seeds. This news article was aired about five years ago.
    See their was a woman who gone to her doctor for something that involved a blood test. They discovered heroin in her blood. The doctor informed the authorities. She had her children removed from her by their local department of family services because of this finding. She faught this vigorously but lost.
    Unknown to her that those poppy seed begals that she loved was the source of her situation. See poppy seeds and poppy seed oil is whare both heroin and morphine comes from. The authorities discovered that those begals where the source of the root drug for heroin opium came from. They tested those begals and found that drug was present.
    After that information came to light she was given back her children by the court. The court informed the woman what happened and she then ruled anything with poppy seeds on or in out of her diet.
    Knowing this I wouldn't touch that cake with a ten foot poll. When I was growing up we used to say grow poppies for fun and profit. What taste does poppy seeds give to food? Is it worth using poppy seeds in any recipe?

    I made the cake yesterday and the cake was so dense not fluffy at all . The cake also fry I left it on for 23 mins . The butter cream way so sweet . Thanks you . I just want to let people know if you don’t want cake that too sweet this is one not for you .

      Hi Mony, Kefir should work. Others also shared that they made buttermilk substitute by adding one tablespoon of vinegar to milk to make 1 cup. Let stand until thick, about 5 minutes.

    This cake has a nice, fresh flavor, but mine turned out a little on the dense side. I'm a beginner baker, so I'm wondering what could have caused that. I did some research, and it sounds like not using room temp ingredients could be the culprit here. My ingredients were on the cooler side (this cake was a last minute idea). I did measure out the flour using a scale, so I ruled that out as the reason. I wonder if overmixing might have caused a dense cake here, too, though I tried to not overmix. Either way, it was a learning experience for me. Thanks for the recipe, Natasha!

      I had already made the butter cream frosting since i like my butter cream to be a little bit cold .

      I haven’t tested it with milk but I have found that using buttermilk adds a good amount of moisture and flavor to the cake. I think it could work, I just haven’t tested it to be able to make that recommendation.

    This is the second recipe I watch where you bake a cake without salt. Salt is always necessary to enhance the sugar when baking cakes. Why don’t you add it?

    What do you do if you don’t have a wisk thing? Will regular mixing work? With like a wooden tool?
