    I like #3...but how do you know what order the numbers go for the lock? That could take a while.

    Really creative ideas, thanks for sharing them! We need more caches out there that are worthy of finding. I'd be so excited to find ammo cans in the field like these. I took notes!

    Love them!!!!
    1- the tape measure - I’m thinking of camo- ing the tape measure “box” for lack of better word- putting it up in tree, and using the key as pull down - wait never mind-, was going to incorporate it into that pvc birdhouse one- but that has a key hidden in it already- But, you could combine number one and number three- the pull down key to use as the magnetic detector- I love the numbers written all over the ammo can! Love them all- all simple enuf creative/gadgets that I can do- if I don’t start overthinking things!!!! Thank you as always for providing these for us cachers who love to make homemade hides!!!! I still would like to do an electronic type, but just don’t have the know how yet. I’m still putting out pvc gadgets and getting great comments and fav points- cachers so happy to have others than the usual grc, lpc etc etc around here!!!

    • @BehindtheCache

      Yeah there are so many different Types of combinations that you can do. Just remember they don’t have to be complicated to be fun.

    I wish I could go do this. I can't because I don't have the cash to do it. I've cached most of the caches around me. But this is one of the funnest hobbies I've had. But these are great.

    Patience caches I've mostly seen called needle-in-a-haystack, so that's a new one for me :)
    All great simple creative caches, seen a bunch of them in various implementations over the years. Great overview and idea video!
    And nice tip for locking ammo cans too.

    Nice ideas-a few suggestions that will benefit your viewers and the community. 1) If you're using a military surplus ammo can be sure to cover all of the original markings. 2) If you're using a padlock for your creative geocache, make sure you select one that is designed for outdoor use. Not all of them are.

    Love these cache ideas! Thank you so much for the info on the locking bolt for ammo cans. We've had so many discussions on how to lock a metal ammo can and that bolt fixes our problem! I also have been looking for tamper-proof locks. Thanks for the resource! I love the term "patience cache". I'm going to start using that term in my cache descriptions!!! 🙂

    These are all amazing, and I'd love to make them, however, living in a region where there is snow possibly 5 months of the year, I would be concerned about leaving a combination lock exposed to the elements. Same with the tape measure. Any suggestions on how to protect these items from a wintry exposure? We did find a similar one with a tape measure a few years ago, but it has since been archived, and I'm wondering if it was because of the winter. Great hide, though!!

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 года назад +1

      I couldn’t because I don’t have that extreme temperature difference where I live. But a good quality lock should be good. The tape measure not sure.

    On that last cache with the magnets - couldn't it turn out to be four different numbers and then you would have to figure out which order it would be? ie 1234 4321 3214 etc. Is that part of it as well? or did I miss something?

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 года назад +5

      Yes you are right 4 different numbers but you could also give hints like top,right, left ,front too to make it easier

  • @knightjocke
    @knightjocke 4 года назад +2

    The tape-measure cache could also be made as a multicache

    Ok, going to use the tape measure to hide a fake pinecone that animals keep wondering off with. How would you secure this in a tree?

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 года назад +3

      You could use zip ties (Wire ties) to go thru the belt clip on the tape measure. That is how I would do it. I hope that makes sense.

  • @katkaplan3
    @katkaplan3 4 года назад +2

    Starting work on number three idea - first I think I’ll paint the ammo can- have to see how the plastic takes the paint- and I got a set of two padlocks off amazon/ that you can set the combination yourself- the ammo can has two end hole lock 🔒 areas- so they’re going to have to find a total of 8 numbers written on the can to get both locks open!!!! This will not being a p&g lol!!! Will post pics when it’s done.

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 года назад +2
