4" or 6" PVC pipe, capped on one end, threaded fitting on other end, sealed with silicone, is better. Lower Detection signal, can be buried vertically, and this will help disguise if discovered accidentally. Will not rust.
Great minds think alike. I totally agree. And one thing people might not think about is, other preppers or just curious and or desperate people. will use a metal detector to find valuables.
@@bonnieswenson9925 I bury mine with a larger, outer casing that stays in the hole permanently. A bit more work and material needed, yes. But, I can just yank out the whole, inner tube and go. And maybe put something back later. This method too give an extra layer of moisture protection, although my outer casing is open on the bottom. Another reason I go vertically is I can use a post-hole auger to dig the initial hole.
someone found some bodybags in the desert in an open shaft... and called the sheriff... everybody thought there were dead bodies inside, it turned out there was food [maybe ammo and guns too?...] said the sheriff
I have blackberry bushes where I put a bunch of stuff in a small bucket and tossed it in the middle of them, same with the back yard. I also have buckets of other stuff hidden in plain sight, using them as a long bench with a board on top. I may end up filling the motor home with buckets due to space issues.
traveling 6 men to a group that's 10 ft from edge to edge is NOT a plan. One burst from a belt fed will get half of you from 1/4 mile away. ONE grenade, rocket, or mortar round will kill all of you. You make a FINE mark for a rifleman, even at half a mile, cause his shots are VERY likely to hit at LEAST one of you! You're never supposed to be closer than 10m between each man, when moving thru open country in daylight.
Remember to bury your stash and place natural stone over it in an irregular hole. Then cover with dirt . The last 6 inches sprinkle with small metal scrap, nails and screws ect. Then fill hole with soil / sod . That way, a person with a metal detector will think it's just junk . The natural stone will keep lidar from seeing the container. Do not put your map on an electronic device , write it down. The dullest of pencils have a longer memory than the sharpest of minds WRITE IT DOWN. I truly hope we don't need to apply our skills in a shtf. Just practice them in case.
Problem with nails and screws is that things are happening so fast nowadays that if l had a metal detector and saw nails and screws not rusty or many years old l would dig like mad. Who in their right mind would have screws and nails in wooded area where no structure is? Sure sign to me to dig, dig, dig.

I live in a part of the world where people have been stashing things for thousands of years. This attracts metal detectorists who search illegally at night. Outside of sticking to yours or a friends property or having stashes with no metal, is there a way to not get your stash detected by these people?
Great question! Plastic is obviously the next answer. @@paolodeep8459 Large metal objects will overload metal detectors. You can't find other items with a metal detector if you are near a car door, or a manhole cover, or some old piece of farm equipment. I once tried to detect an area grown up with saplings, only to discover it apparently had once been a metal recycling location, or as we use to say, a junkyard. It was pointless to detect that area.

Buried vertical is HARD as 💩 to get out of the ground. If you can get the cap off and reach all the stuff, it's ok.
@bonnieswenson9925 well, hopefully, never have to access the contents, but can always tie paracord to items to pull out

Cache is king.
Cache me outside, how bout dat?
When finding a good, secure hiding place, your worst enemy is not bear or racoons, it is local kids. Take appropriate measures.

Why put your secret stache on line for people to see it

Fantastic video gentlemen!!!!!!
That's great thanks 👍
Good stuff. I'm looking for hidey-holes inside the house as well.
Great video buddy great info
Thanks
Great information for a SHTF event thank you very much
Gray man up and ditch all electronics before heading out.
A cache needs to be inconvenient to get to and far enough off the trail that the spot is not likely to be used by people for a call of nature.
True. There are a bunch of other considerations as well. I listed a lot of those in the comments of the Tactical Riflemans video on caches.
@@NickFrom1228I will scope it out.
I've been trying to think of urban spots. It's hard to tell when an area is going to get destroyed to put up more apartments around here.

Plastic bag, then rice in ammo can
Add Vaseline to the rubber seal. Slower rotting and Increase the seal.
Don’t use Vaseline, it’s a petroleum based product and it will degrade the rubber seal. You can use a silicone based lubricant or sealer.
Can you recommend a source for the ammo cans?
Honestly army navy surplus store or on line is your best bet

Put a bunch of metal objects in the ground for false signals. Soda/soup cans, old nails/screws pretty much any metal junk
