I just discovered geocaching TODAY. Been out and found my first 4 in my local area. I think it's brilliant. Its nice to see something light-hearted activities that brings people together in such divisive times.
This is the first video of yours I have ever seen and I love it. You don’t give away locations and you have a wonderful way of speaking! I have subscribed 😁
Thank you so much for your kind words and welcome aboard :) In my early days in my enthusiasm I did reveal a few locations. But now I feel I've got a better format for these showing the fun without ruining it :)
0:56 to 1:13 That is The Rise, a house of St Peter's School, where I lived for 3 years 1972 to 1975. The school has its own boathouse with eights, fours, two-seaters and sculls. We had regattas with the York Rowing Club ("the professionals" as you call them) and other schools. I was also in the Naval Section of the Combined Cadet Force and we had a launch on the Ouse called "Callie", given to the school by the Navy. My great grandfather did his apprenticeship as a sailor on the windjammers and was captain of one of the first steamships transporting wool from Australia to the UK going round both Capes. You can see my own marine exploits on my channel, but nothing compared with my distinguished ancestor from Whitby.
Hey there. I'm really considering getting involved in this. I downloaded the app and quite excited about making this a hobbie. It would be nice to get out on these winters mornings. Fantastic video!, You gave me my first introduction to this in your video. Winter is my favourite time of year. Wrap up and have a reason for exploring Edit: just a quite edit. Have loved and subbed to the channel
Just downloaded the app and thought I’d watch some videos on here. Crazy to think the first video I clicked on was you in york where I’m from!! Exited to have a wonder!!
Yes the app is free. With geocaching you have access to hundreds of free caches. However if you pay the annual fee, about £25, you get access to them all. As for the one you mentioned. I have no idea what that is or what it's for 🤷♂️ 😁
Been doing some research to get into geocaching, and picked a video to watch to get an idea for the etiquette behind it. Was very surprised to see you in bootham/Clifton. I’m very local to that area haha
me and my brother are doing are first today and we will replace it with some collectibles it is in public so people will be like what are those weirdos doing
I thought this was going to b something else by the title. Lockdowns r strange . They want u to stay home. ,but that’s where they say most people get it.
Unfortunately due to the size of it, and I haven't shown the whole thing on purpose, the CO has had issues with maintenance. It is one of the sad aspects of geocaching that finders aren't always respectful of the cache 😏 Whenever I've found any damaged ones I've repaired where poss and always contacted the CO about it. After all, that's what I hope someone will do with mine. Thanks for watching and commenting 😁👍
It is isn't it 😁 The good thing is, if anyone looks for it because of this video, they're going to be surprised when they find it's not a clip lock box 🤣

Wow, and you found 4, that's cool. It does get very addictive, rummaging through bushes, looking for plastic containers 🤣
:o just found out today!

Excellent 😁 I'm glad you're enjoying it. If you're in York you might find some of my hides 👍😊
Have you have any muggles following you or asking you what you're up to? 😂
@@zoobieloobie3646 not yet... I often think it helps having a camera in my hand because it simply looks like I'm into filming stuff.
I've recently moved to the uk and decided to give geocaching a go. Im going geocache hunting tomorrow, and i think ill have a lot of fun doing so.

Somehow I knew this was York like 5 seconds into the video, way before you mentioned it. I've only been there twice but it's so recognisable!
You like York? 😁
just setup my geocache channel and will be going out real soon to look for caches , looks so much fun :)
Always remember to have fun with it 😁👍
Nice to see another Karl out caching. Good job on the find! I also leave DNFs so that the cache owner knows.

Just search for the app called Geocaching :)

Are you in York too? :D
to short I am sorry I need to see more pease, lol. Also what is a swappable? Can it be whatever you want it to be as long as it is legal?

Hi, what app are you using please?
I use the standard Geocaching app 👍
Brilliant video
Thank you very much sir 👍😀
Please help me with those crazy zigzag lines in the road, what on earth is that for? How can you drive there? So confusing for me.
It's too make sure drivers don't stop and park indicating there's a crossing 👍😁
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner oh ok I think I get it
It's a pedestrian crossing zone
