Our local utility has done a pretty good job of keeping prices low: $0.07 per kWh for daytime home charging, and an overnight off-peak rate of $0.033 per kWh. We have solar, so it doesn’t matter anyhow, but it’s pretty cheap to fully recharge a CT at home at that rate…$4. Not bad. Range may not be there compared to a diesel, but if someone can tow all day doing local work for less than $4, it’s still a useful truck.

It’s almost 1 mile per 1% so technically you can do almost 100 miles in a 100% charge… may be with software and the extra battery the over all distance will improve…

I don’t understand how the truck can DC fast charge at over 300 KW, but the regen gets limited at such a low rate. The batteries must not be the limiting factor. They can clearly take a lot of juice all at once supercharging. It would be useful to have more capable regen when trailering downhill. Plus, Elon said the Semi truck brakes would never need to be replaced as they get used so little. So if they can figure it out for the semi truck, surely they mistakenly be able to improve it for the CT.

$0.40/kwh is still less than has, and especially diesel. It would be $40 to tow 150-ish miles. 15 mpg going 150 miles is 10 gal, at $4/gal is $40. Factor in longer term maintenance like oil changes, water pumps, spark plugs (for gas), transmission repairs flushes, the list is literally thousands of dollars long, and it’s clearly cheaper to tow with electric, even at high electricity costs. Most people are going to be starting out the fay with a full charge at home at a pretty cheap electricity cost rate though, most of the time. It’s just cheaper.
