    Some people think buying a big house is a flex! No getting 16 GSP’s to stay in one spot while you talk is a flex.

    I have been listening to lots of awesome clicker training podcasts, and reading lots of great books, but I needed to SEE these things in action. I am getting an Icelandic Sheepdog in about a month, and want to be as ready as possible.

    I am so excited to find this channel. we are waiting impatiently to pick up our new chocolate lab puppy. We have had a few retrievers in the past, but never committed to a full blown training plan and had to deal with medeocre to decent levels of obedience. Hoping to finally invest time and effort into our next puppy for solid obedience training, and hopefully get a working retriever out of him to dove, quail and maybe pheasant hunt, along with shed hunting in the off season. I have to go thru your videos and gather more info, but at what week or month should the e collar be brought into the training programs?

    When / Do you add in electrical conditioning to the process? After vibrate is really solid? Thanks.

    Hi! Do you use e-collars to train all the dogs u work with? Or just the high drive ones? I have an “English” lab who is a bit timid and sensitive. Worried about how she may react to it, and if it may do more harm than good?

    Hey ethan, my heeler whines when he's in place if there are more fun things going on ( i.e. people over, even just one person ). If i put him in place and someone walks through the door even with vibrating he is barking and whining. Takes him a long time to wind down. Vibrate or even shock really doesn't make him stop the whining. Any tips?

    How do you avoid them becoming collar wise? Are there any things to you would advise to do, or not to do during training, so that the dog doesn't only behave with the collar on?

    I have a beagle/English bulldog mix, when should i start him on an e-collar? He’s about 8 months now.
    And should I start place training before I have him on an e-collar?

    How long (hours) do you recommend for place training my GSP? I exercise him and train with him every day so he's busy, but when it comes to place training he can only last an hour before he gets restless. How do I build duration?

    • @timb.7296
      @timb.7296 2 года назад +2

      hour is great. best that i've found for anything duration is to go just a bit past the point once, then a shorter duration next time then back to the previous long bench mark (so go hour and 5 min, then 15 min, then try hour and 5 again)

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  2 года назад +2

      We build duration fairly quickly. Making the bed the easy place to be! 30 minutes to 2 hours should be no issue in a few sessions.

  • @crash50458

    Does using the kennel command to go to there bed confuse them when actually asking them to go into their kennel?

    • @StandingStoneKennels
      @StandingStoneKennels  2 года назад +1

      Nope! It’s a cue that is pretty easily generalized. This makes life easier when you want to teach your dog to sit steady on a large variety of different beds or platforms. Literally anywhere!

    • @jayscott1380

      Hey Ryan, I've always differentiated by saying "go to kennel" for their actual kennel and "on kennel" for staying in place.

    Hey I have five pitbulls and I have a dad a mom two brothers and a sister they are all really good dogs but the boys tend to hate each other and try to kill each other anytime they're in the same room I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how I can train them to not attack each other

    • @ericfleetwood6744
      @ericfleetwood6744 2 года назад

      "they are all really good dogs but the boys tend to hate each other and try to kill each other anytime they're in the same room." The second half of the sentence completely nullifies the first half. Those are not "really good dogs."
