  • A tank lift is one of the best mods you can do aesthetically to your Harley. There are some tight areas to work around and taking the fuel tank off makes it much easier. In this first video of the Tank Lift/Wire Tuck/Coil Relocation series, I show you step-by-step how to remove your Harley Sportster fuel tank.

    Very helpful video! I’m doing a project on my sportster 48 and I have to take off the tank, I was about to just remove the black cover that has all the system in the tank but you saved me from maybe screw everything up, thank you!

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret  5 лет назад

      You're welcome, man! Yeah, removing the tank is pretty easy to do once you know what needs to happen and it makes working on the wiring loom so much easier.

      Great Egret right! And I can’t stop! I need to remove the rear fender but I realize that the lights wires are attached to a little plastic that it is attached too to the fender, I don’t really know what to do, cut them and then just re-wire them or pull them removing the plastics... but anyways, thanks again!

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret  5 лет назад

      Clipping the wires won't do you any good unless you want to replace your tail lights. You'll still have to remove the bolt holding the lights, wiring, and the housing together. It's a sneaky little bolt that's hiding behind that cover between the outside of the fender and the housing for the tail light wiring. The fuel vent line- what is it and what does it do? Thanks

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret  4 года назад +1

      Fuel can expand and pressure can build up in the tank. This vent hose is to release that pressure or allow fuel to expell if the tank is full and simultaneously has pressure expansion.

    Well done video! So..for us non-HD 883 owners....is there a benefit to these mods?

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Ron! Some H-D riders that do a tank lift claim that there is better handling, but truthfully this mod is done for only for aesthetics. Gives the bike a cleaner look.

    • @Ron_C
      @Ron_C 6 лет назад

      Right on! BTW-I did a vlog in the rain Monday and gave your video on riding in the rain a shout-out. I figure that some of the folks who watch my vids might give it a look. Love the color of that bike, by the way. I watch another channel and the guy has the same color, maybe even the same model. motorickyricardo is his channel name, check hom out.

They may be old because they're my garage jeans, but I'm pretty sure they are Levis. I can't check anymore because I tossed them after tearing a hole in the seat during this video (if you look closely you may catch a shot or two of my skivvies through the tear).
