  • Quick how to on replacing your HD Iron 883 battery.
    IMPORTANT
    Removed: NEGATIVE then positive
    Reconnect: POSITIVE then negative
    What you need:
    -3/8 Socket & Ratchet
    -Phillips Head Screwdriver
    -New Battery
    -Possibly Some Extra Hands
    -Patience

    Just a few quick things: You can't get "shocked" from 12 volts. You can inadvertently hit the positive feed or terminal to ground causing a huge problem, but you won't get shocked. Bolt at bottom of strap is 3/8th. Terminal bolts are always 10MM. And if using a battery tender, less complicated and much easier to connect the negative tender wire to the small ground post on top of engine case right under the battery.

    Thanks, Vid was very helpful. I have a swing arm bag that complicated things a bit, but over all was spot on for my 2017 883. Thanks ! oh and removing the fuses....... good idea.

    All I want to know on my 2013 softail why don’t HD give us about a half inch of wiring to connect the negative terminal. Jesus, it’s just wire.

    If you have a security system and/or alarm, turn on ignition key (not power button) THEN pull the main fuse.

    I have a 21 iron 883… took battery out for winter how ever trying to put battery back bike won’t start. Battery been charging as well…. Notice on my bike as well as this video for the positive their to wire both wire need to plugged in with the bolt

    At around 2:50 you're disconnecting the NEGATIVE lead and it's obviously on the RIGHT side of the bike.
    At around 3:00 you're disconnecting the POSITIVE lead and it's obviously on the LEFT side of the bike.
    At around 3:30 you say you needed a battery with the Negative post on the LEFT and POSITIVE post s on the RIGHT.
    What you say at 3:30 contradicts what is shown in video.
