@@johnstrachan2726 haha I know what a shocker! Hate making these kinds of mistakes, but all we can do is learn! Hope to watch a game at Dens Park eventually!
The Shires social club was great place on Saturday nights.Remember watching a game on Saturday back in the late 1960,s Think they were playing Forfar when the ball was kicked out of the stadium, the ref had to stop the game until someone retrieved the ball as it was the only one fit for playing with. Great pies as I remember as well.very sad they lost the stadium.
Firs Park was one of my favourite away days to go too, was a cracking atmosphere, also when I was a wee boy I went to an away to against Falkirk at there old stadium brockville, think it must of been one of the last games played at Brockville before they moved to where they are now, but it was also a great atmosphere, stadiums with terracing in them just have far more character about them I think, and can generate a better atmosphere
Thanks for the video . You should know however that Alan Mackin is the sole reason why we don’t play at Firs park anymore . That one man did his best to destroy my club , and he succeeded in taking our ground from us . That’s the real story . The ground “ not being fit for purpose for the league “ is a side show . The club were hardly going to sink money into improving the ground when someone had effectively stole it from them ?!
Stuart blackwood what's the story with Mackin? I used to watch him playing for Renfrew Jnrs and drank in his pub in Paisley. He also owned a glaziers in Renfrew. Interested to hear what happened at ES
To be fair to the club their Chairman had advocated that Scottish Football would be improved by the relegation /promotion to/fromthe lower tiers a couple of years before it happened even though he understood that his club would be one of the first to be relegated
Had some fun days at Firs Park. Shame to see there's nothing left. Was at a reserve game between Shire and Clyde about 2007 ish. What football is all about! Another great video from Scotland's premier football RUclips channel.
Good to hear they went out with a win. Can't change that. My dad saw them at Queen of the South & said Shire fans were singing we're black, we're white , we're absolutely shite. I love that. Don't forget the book Pointless , about a season spent watching them.
Another great video Sam 👍 Don’t listen to people who are questioning your travelling. It’s your job, it’s only you so you are not putting anybody at risk and we are all getting to see all the different stadiums when we can’t in real life. ♥️
Wick Academy would be a great shout for a video, currently a Highland League team, there the most northern senior club in the UK, not including amateur clubs in Orkney and Shetland. Then you've even got the Shetland football team, who have played games against the Faroe Islands before they entered FIFA and Uefa, Greenland Isle of Man Jersey Guernsey and even the Falkland Islands, seen photos of these games having huge crowds at them too, and they look like a very unique place to play football
Love your abandoned both in england and scotland. Would love to see the older premier league grounds such as Filbert Street, The Dell and Baseball Ground
That Berlin Wall thing was built on what used to be a nice wee terrace. You can see the ground in all it's glory on here - East Stirlingshire v Dumbarton from 90/91 full BBC highlights.
When I moved from the south of Scotland to Stirling for work, I shopped around for a team to follow, and for some weird reason I clicked with East Stirlingshire. I followed the 'Shire for about five or six seasons, before switching to Queens Park for about twenty seasons.
Theres an abandoned ground not far from Kelty hearts. It belonged to Ballingry rovers and there's still 2 stands and the toilets and dugouts are there as far as I'm aware.
Great vid. Once things get back to normal, I intend visiting every Scottish ground I haven't been to, especially those clubs still playing at their traditional homes.
The size of the stadium should always reflect the size of the weekly crowd. Selling out a smaller venue is better than sparsely populating a giant stadium.
I'm not sure if you are aware of Simon Inglis' series of books describing the football grounds of Great Britain. In the 1983 edition Inglis mentions the fact that Firs Park had no crush barriers. That might explain why you saw no relics of them.

Hi Maybe you could check out Camelon Juniors, now a senior team, they have a neat little ground which is in the Falkirk district, been there lots of times, saw them lift the Scottish Junior Cup back in the 90's..Come on you Mariners

Here's a challenge for ya what about visiting some grounds in Shetland and visit the most northerly football team in Britain....Unst Fc plus its summer football in the Shetland premier league 😀 I've travelled 1500 mile round trip to watch them play
Bit late, but it's about 10 miles away. They shared Ochilview Park with Stenhousemuir for a while before they started using Falkirks stadium. They had planning permission to develop Little Kerse Lane astro to be their own home ground, but that fell through as they couldn't find investors to fund it. Firs Park is between Victoria Road and the Retail Park in Falkirk. As of writing this, the ground hasn't been touched and is an overgrown mess. It's used by fly tippers and dog walkers.
Very sad, never got to see them play. I tried to visit brockville and firs for a look around got in the former but had to settle for a few poor shots from a gap in the fence at firs. You should do Shawfield Stadium in Glasgow. Former home of Clyde FC.
the ES clydebank saga of 64/65 season might be an idea for a video on its own.
