Copper gets rid of heat faster, but this is a small light they all drop down to around half the max output. Will depend on how cold it is of course. There is no way to maintain such high output on a small torch, only a larger body torch can get rid of the heat better
A lot of makers do that some give the drop down (Olight is one example) most don't. Some bigger torches don't visibly drop down the Klarus G35 holds it's output, it's much bigger though. Even 18650 torches drop output in a few minutes so the race for more lumens isn't going to benefit users bar short burst output times. Output on this after it's gone down is still decent enough to see, this one is for up close distances doesn't really have much range
Mr Baz Reviews I like compact lights. I have 2 s minis in copper a jetbeam jet pro 2, thrunite t10, olight s15r, olight i3e copper, mecarmy illuminex 3, and a lumintop tool in copper.
Quite a collection..for most the smaller torches are the ones to use though I look at larger ones because some people like them too. I tend to use the small ones the most simply because you can carry them around. If you get the copper Klarus let me know what you think of it, thanks for the comment
Hi Keith they've gone for something different with the lens and I think it works well for closer up activities, most have a reflector or a smaller optical lens. Less range but very even spread on the beam handy working light
I bought this light in raw copper, the beam pattern is really tight, not much flood and a really small hot spot. The run times are wrong (as listed by the company with the included battery), you get 35 mins on high, then it steps down to 45 lumens for 20 mins, after that all you get is 10 lumens or 1 (moonlight). The battery was fully charged with an xtar master vc2 before starting the test.
I've no experience of the copper version I do know that the beam is completely different v the normal one. This has the Lens on the front which spreads it out very evenly. The copper has a normal reflector hence the difference. Run times can vary depending on temps, and also sometimes the battery might be an issue
@@MrBazReviews Ooops, don't know how I missed that! 625 mAh makes sense. The light steps down after a few seconds on high a lot of the time. I'm thinking of trying out it with some better battery's, any suggestions?
@@birdlaw1019 Sounds like the battery isn't working properly. I'd look at the Soshine 16340 it's quite good and cost effective I've a few around and they are working well
I'm thinking of buying this light but the battery's have me confused. It ships with a 16340, as far as I understand it, a cr123a is a primary (non rechargeable cell) and a 16340 is not a primary cell (rechargeable), is there any other difference between the two? Also, will this fit a regular cr123 without the A at the end of the battery designation?
They use different names but RCR123A (R being rechargeable) the non rechargeable is CR123A, or 16340 which is usually rechargeable. Any CR123 is the same as CR123A size is identical.
I have not used the Ti/Copper versions (different design on the reflector) I might get hold of one at some point. There is an extensive beam shot comparison on the S1 Mini review: ruclips.net/video/4DD0O5AUhqM/видео.html From about 7 minutes in including the Mi1C
About that the shed is 90ft from the camera you can see the board light up in the beam shots though it drops off spreads out around a lot. You can see though not as well as a mixed beam torch this one is for up close not range but 50-60ft you'll be able to see
I'm not too impressed! About $65 USD and only 600 lumens. I have a Astrolux S41 with 1400 lumens and a Four Nichia Led so it's awesome and only $35 USD!
Depends what you want I just take each product on it's own to evaluate it. Small cell torches have very short run times at high power levels, that's just how it is. For normal use I'd not need ultra power on a compact torch, rarely use the 900lm on the S1R I have. More about small size and what features you have, that's just my take
The best thing about this little light over the S41 is probably that USB chargeable cell, I haven´t seen them for sale on their own yet (though I´m sure they will be somewhere soon...). Also that side switch is a nice addition over the S41, though I guess that´s very much down to personal preference.
Hi John they are selling the Klarus label micro USB cells I found them here: amzn.to/2x0KxF7 Agree it is a useful feature to have can't really comment on the S41 I have not used it would like to give it a try. Not really sure 1400lm is a good idea for such a small torch you'll kill the battery fairly fast, though of course you don't have to use it at top setting.
Nice find! I eventually bought the Mi1C, mostly just for the battery. When it arrived I was amazed how small it is in comparison with the S41/S42/BLF A6, most definitely a more compact light with a much more floody beam.
You know... I bought the ripoff version of this... Not knowing who or what design I had just become an accomplice to knocking off, I picked it up on a whim. Think it was $20 on a flash deal on one of those crappy Chinese import apps. Anyways, I still felt like I got got once i received the light. Build quality was okay. Design was okay. But the lens... Just looks and feels cheap. Even on this higher end klarus version. Looking at the price of this mi1c compared to what I paid, I feel a bit better. 20 bucks is okay. The light I picked up isn't that bad for that price. It has probably 75% of the design and features and functionality over all,(from what I can tell from your vid anyway...). Thank!!!
All the bigger makers are more expensive just the way it is not everyone will want to pay that and I get that. The beam alone will make it much more suited to closer up work, there are variations around I'd usually suggest a normal reflector as it has more range, I suppose it's something different though
Mr Baz Reviews also, I just realized there's an updated ti/cu version with... An o/p reflector! Which, I can justify the price and user-ability due to the upgrade in materials and functionality. But, to your point, something different I this current form factor. It's a flood spotlight! Agreed. Up close work and small room candle duties! Thanks again!
Yes the Ti/Cu version is different unfortunately I have not been able to get a sample but they might suit general use better. It's down to choice really the flood is great for up close very even spread of light, it cuts the range down quite a bit though.
The light you're talking about is the Utorch S1 Mini. I had mine for a while up until losing it recently, but for $20, not too upset over it. And I'm not sure which one was out first but there's quite a few other lights on the market with the same general design so those two. I know Utorch does make decent lights for the money and not just ripoffs of other lights.
Got the light and used it for a coupe of days. I like it alot. Yes, you can have a lanyard, but not of you remove the clip. The magnet is strong. Perfect when working on my car :-)
Yes it's ideal for that type of work close up nice big spread of light certainly one of the best I've tried. For general use ie more range some might find the smini better suited. Both are good though

I just ordered the copper version. Does it maintain 600 lumens for the 1.5 hour runtime or does it step down and if so what does it step down to?

Mr Baz Reviews it's a bit misleading when it says it has 1.5 hour runtime on high, that's why I inquired as it doesn't seem realistic.
A lot of makers do that some give the drop down (Olight is one example) most don't. Some bigger torches don't visibly drop down the Klarus G35 holds it's output, it's much bigger though. Glad you found it useful yes they've done a nice job in most areas on this one
