      I think if you cut the fluff out you can make a video 5-6 minutes long and cover what you need to know (on this type of product). I have no idea how anyone can make a 20 minute + video on something like this, scary really!

      @@MrBazReviews I agree. Channels like Flashaholics are all good and well, with their build-up and storyline, etc, but at the end of the day you just want a quick look at the aesthetics, a scan through the UI and output tables, and a summary of the Pros/Cons, with a few beamshot examples and an idea of the price.
      I'd say you've got it all bang-on, mate!!

      @@Sarrienne He's got his own take (quite different to mine), but if we all did the same thing it would be less interesting. He's def more into these products in a deeper way, I like them but as a more practical/hands on take, so it's all good really if it helps people. There are a lot of advertising channels out there (some of the big ones EDC stuff etc), not my thing what's hot and what's not. I don't work for these companies, if your product is good it will overall get a positive review.

    6500 lumens that is a lot pushing on these little lights I don't understand why they don't give you a program setting where you can set the modes to your lumen levels, great information thanks Mr B

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  Месяц назад +4

      That might be an idea, would be more useful I suppose. It's fun to use, yet I really want a user replaceable battery, whoever does that first is going to have a hit on their hands.

      In the end the EDC29 is a 1,000 lumens flashlight. It can make 6,500 lumen for seven seconds, I don't know how useful it is; it looks great on the brochure and the ads though. In the end, it is a great flashlight - consider that 1,000 lumens ffom a pocket light are a lot...

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  Месяц назад +1

      @@rayoflight62 Yes the top 2 modes are for fun/quick blast, little real practical use. Anything near 1000lm is good enough for many, most drop down to 500-600lm anyway.

    • @TorchHacker

      @@rayoflight62You can reactivate the LUMIN SHIELD mode over and over but you need to wait for it to cool down. I measured about 8,000+ lumens three times in the first minute. It drops in output slightly each time and takes longer to cool down. After activating the highest mode 3 times the head reached 60 C. I almost set my sleeve on fire while using Strobe because my cuff was too close 😂

      You don’t understand? They’re making products for mass sale. Including and driver that allows customizable UI is an added cost and complication that I’m sure they considered and decided it’s not worth the cost.

    Great review as always MrB.
    Nice EDC light, definitely ticks many boxes.
    The OLED screen is a very nice touch, definitely would be useful in a power outage or storm. Read somewhere that this model has small screws so it might be possible to replace the battery down the road, least Nitecore might? Not sure if it’s worth the shipping though?
    The new UHI LEDs certainly give you two lights in one.
    👍

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  Месяц назад

      They probably can replace the battery, but as you say shipping/time etc might not be worth it. What I would like to see if an easy to replace design where you can access the battery, and maybe pick up spares/replacement cells if needed. For other models I think using the normal replaceable batteries it the way forward, lot of items lately are built in batteries, that's not ideal longer term use. The design on these has evolved nicely, in particular the build is better and the lock switch is excellent much better then multiple button presses.

    • @paultruesdale7680
      @paultruesdale7680 Месяц назад

      Another issue is the complication of buying reputable batteries, and owners installing them in backwards.
      A very close friend did this once, when he came into the room to get something he needed, the light was smoking, luckily he got it outside before it burst into flames.
      He gave up the hobby right then and there and gave me all his batteries.

      @@Sarrienne I don't really have that many, I like playing with them, but not acquiring them as such. I gave up looking for the ideal model years ago, it's largely about marketing these days. So I'll just look at the odd one from time to time, many of them don't interest me - this type is usually quite popular though and people like to see content on these.

      @@Sarrienne Yeah I'm not here to "sell stuff" to people, many are, that makes me less appealing to makers though, but I just say what I like and don't like. I'll still keep doing some reviews on these items, I don't get enough to make it the main focus of the channel, it's not really viable to do that. I tried for years, many brands won't send items in. Photo is the main focus and torches will be as and when they turn up. If people used the links, that would help a lot I'd be able to buy in items, and it costs nothing.

    nice , between EDC 35 and EDC 29 and p20ix which one you recommend? Or which one is your favorite? Thank you, sir

    • @MrBazReviews

      They are quite difference, the P21is is more a tactical model and you can change the battery (i series cell though but still it's not built in v the others). These flat ones are more for EDC carry of if the slim size matters. SRT7i is also nice if you want a longer range model. See what works for you.

    I bought the EDC27 and a few months later the EDC25, then a few months after that they release the EDC27 UHi, I did not buy that when it came out. Now the EDC29? They are nice upgrades but I am done buying these flat form factor lights from Nitecore, being released in rapid succession. Maybe in a couple of years if the price comes down on the EDC29 I might consider it.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  Месяц назад +1

      The EDC25 might be good enough no OLED but it's lighter and still well made. Just stick with it, the top levels on this are so short, you only get a brief blast of light. It's the best build of all of them, at a cost of more weight though.

      Fourth time the charm! It took Nitecore four attempts to produce a solid blade light. I skipped the previous models and bought this EDC29, because it achieved the same or better performance than the reference blade light - the GOAT RovyVon E30 Pro...
