If it wasn't for Samplize, I would have wasted so much money on paint. Their paint samples showed me my home makes any and all paint colors turn into their undertone. I'm so glad I used them before buying the colors I wanted, and was able to find new ones.
Maybe I missed the boat to ask questions, but I was wondering about how much the colour might change when you're putting up a sample in a room that's already painted in another colour. I recently bumped into someone at the paint store who said she was struggling with colour selection because she is painting over a warm colour ("marigold" - my new home also has this colour!!), but all the samples look very cool when contrasted with the marigold. This got me thinking.. if the whole room is painted in something like that, will the samples look very different form when that horrible colour is finally gone? Maybe they're even going to look more cool because they would be reflecting all this warm marigold-light off the samples...
Good question. Thats a tough one because the samples are small so you won't get a good feel for the color until you have walls painted. We tell clients the actual paint will feel and look darker than the sample. When dealing with dramatic color changes if the new paint is in the general area our client wants to go, then they are happy 99% of the time with the new color. Good luck!
Ask for a Mighty Board at the paint store and paint your sample splotches on that, then take it into the room you’re painting and hold it up, or tape it, to the wall.
What about for selling? If you were going to quickly paint a house just to give it a nice fresh layer? Agreeable grey is on my top tier list right now for pretty much the whole house, though I'm looking for a good bedroom color, and bathroom and what about ceiling and trim? Looking to keep cost down, and its gotta be consumer grade, because Sherwin Williams here won't sell the better quality stuff without having a contractor account and the dudes there (locally) are kinda asshats. Honestly I like Valspar from Lowes (I think its just rebranded sherwin?), Behr is OK but some of their products for me have sucked.
Hi Fade. Thanks for the question. For selling Agreeable Grey should be fine. Also it may depend on where your house is located and local trends buyers are looking for. If you have a realtor or realtor friend it may be worth asking them. To keep it inexpensive feel free to go with any brand of paint you like. Without seeing your home, painting the walls would have the greatest impact. If you want to paint ceilings and trim a stock white color would work (what we use for 95% of our clients), plus you can return any untinted paint if you overbuy. Good luck!
It can be done, it's just a little bit of a trickier process. If you're concerned about splatter on the walls you can tape up painter's plastic covering the walls and trim. Cutting in the ceiling is the most technical part of doing the ceiling last. Take your time and if you mess up, hopefully you've got the wall paint so you can touch up where needed.
@@SuperVassarBrothers actually a drop ceiling 4x2 tiles on a grid (small diner that I own ) we have gray tile with black grout- hoping you may have suggestions on colors for ceiling??? 🙏 we can even do 2 tone (Tiles/grid)
If people think picking a paint color is the most stressful thing they are in! I sure hope they are not voting for dictator leadership! Because they do not know how to make their own choices

The over the shoulder toss is a nice touch. Says so much without the need of words.
That’s what I was going for. I’m known for my subtly…🤨

Hi Elana. Glad Samplize helped you get the right paint colors. We love them and our clients have been enjoying them too.
Thank you! Sending ❤ love from Boston!
Thanks for watching! I hope it helped in getting you to the right color!!
Do you think Sherwin Williams Moth Wing goes good with a darker woodgrained trim?
it's hard to say without seeing the room, but that color could work. You could always put up a sample and see how it looks with the trim.
Great advice. Great eyebrows too!
Thanks TC. Appreciate the kind words.
For rental property which type of colour will be ideal
We have rental properties and Agreeable Gray is all the rage these days (also Sherwin Williams #1 color last I checked).

@@SuperVassarBrothers Thanks a million - been watching several videos and they are really helpful.
Hang a white sheet on the wall and tape/pin the sample to the white sheet.

Hi Sharon, Should be a rule if you can't pick paint colors then you can't vote. Seems fair to me. :)
