I would buy that stuff in a heartbeat. But I'm not into buying necessary. I'm into finding it. Digging through it like y'all did. I wish I was there.
120-150!!!! for a cab???.... cheap.....you got a whole mountain full of turquise why not 300 per cab i say is fair
If you use your pick on either side of the seams, and avoid hitting right in it, you’ll get larger chunks….also, if you keep the green stuff, you can stabilize it. It is still desirable.
This is painful to watch. I saw several pieces get crushed or fly away. Hobbiest vs pro maybe?
@@frostypop934 IKR? …later in the video the claim owner said his assistant has been doing this for a decade, but I do think it’s lack of knowledge. He may be good at spotting veins, but having the patience to tease out larger pieces of excellent color takes more than experience. I couldn’t stand to watch either. I just paid $25 for some rough online that’s nearly worthless. Mostly extremely light blue chalk. American turquoise is overpriced and difficult to acquire unless you live in Arizona or New Mexico.
These guys know more about mining turquoise than you'll ever know. These guys make a living doing this and sometimes you just need to crank out lots of material. If you're a hobbiest you may take your time getting every little piece out perfectly but when you own a mine like this with so much matierial, it's not about saving every little nugget.@@frostypop934 @kathybradbury
Really like the Vids would love to see a "start to finish" video mined to cut and polished and maybe even to the fittings.
So cool. I wish I was there.
😊
A SHORT BLAST FROM A 5 MONTH PAST- NICE TURQUOISE - WHAT BEAUTIFUL CREATIONS!!! You all are TRULY BLESSED!!!
I'm coming to dig with my Rock Club in October. I just can't wait! Also, do you draw out a map of how the seams are running? Do the veins form from the top or the bottom?
Someday...the Otterson's are pretty cool. I've been wanting to dig with them for the last decade. Love the material! Thanks for sharing.
That's pretty impressive, the old building is still standing, very cool, gosh the sure did come out really nice, beautiful pieces, thanks for sharing
Are we able to dig there again? I thought the mine was closed to the public.
