    OMG this thing WORKS!! The price was right so I ordered from Amazon right after watching your video. We have tried the pellets down the holes with little success. My husband was excited to try it. There was a fresh mound in the yard this morning. My husband used the probe to find the tunnel and put the device in place. An hour and a half later it was triggered with a dead gopher in the trap. This thing is worth every penny!! Thank you for the video! I'm sure we will catch more since the neighbors on either side of us don't do anything about the gophers or moles.

    My yard was spongy with tunnels. My feet would actually sink. This trap works. Don't pull on the trap when you can't pull it through. Sink a shovel next to the hole and loosen the dirt enough to get it out. You might bend or break the working end of the thing. Also, don't give up on one hole. Sometimes it took an hour and others a week but eventually they got caught.

    I use these strictly for moles. It's the easiest mole trap made in my opinion. However, they still are a challenge at times. You have to find the "live" tunnel and this isn't always easy. And in loose sandy soil I get a lot of misses. I've been trying to get one mole for two weeks and I have 3 years of experience with these. Good video. One criticism is I wish they used a brighter paint to signal a hit.

    Been using the Gopher Hawk for a little over a month now. Only two minor complaints...1. Because of soil conditions, placement is key. First trap was a clean kill, caught by the head. Subsequent traps were foot captures. You should wallow out the hole to a touch deeper than the run so the bulb formed by the springs is in the pathway to let the varmint hit the trigger full on. The foot captures were still good because the trap held firm and let me pull straight out of the hole to blast it in the head with my trusty Remington 552 .22 rifle. So if you see the trap is tripped, lay a hand on it to see if it's moving which will likely indicate a foot capture. Then either take your chances pulling it gingerly straight out the hole or just dig around to loosen or remove some soil to get at it cleanly. 2. I ran into some deeper tunnels when it would have been nice to have the whole trap and tool six inches longer to save the hassle of trying to find something shallower. Even then, if you want you can dig out a wider hole to let you set the trap as deep as you need. I'm just lazy like that. Less than a month and I've greased six and it appears that those were all that were on our four acres. Great trap!

    Try tossing some chunks of dry ice down into the tunnel. Seal off the hole and let the CO2 do the work. Depending on the size of the run, you’d probably have to drop it in multiple spots. Big cities have used this method successfully on rats.

  • @gamonman3564
    @gamonman3564 Год назад +1

    After watching this I bought 2 of these. I’ve been battling moles for years and they’ve done more damage than I knew was possible. - Nothing caught for a week. Then I figured out that I needed to target deeper, more active tunnels. Once I figured out where they were active I killed 2 in the same day. Probably a breeding pair. This trap works! I’ve been telling everyone at work. Guys talk about this stuff. I’ve never killed a mole with any other trap and I’ve tried them all. The only way it could be better is if it had braces to hold it steady in strong wind or in very shallow tunnels. I’ve had trouble locating the deeper tunnels. But I like to keep traps set even if the tunnels are shallow. I’m finally winning the war!

  • @walterwillis5351
    @walterwillis5351 2 года назад

    Thanks for showing this. We have moles - I think I will give this a try next year when they re-appear. Usual method has been to wait to see activity, block their escape and flood the tunnel until they try to escape and then play whack-a-mole.

    Now you have a smart gopher . . . Now he will just plug the trap and go around. Some observations; Had your gopher been dead he would have been limp enough to come right thru the hole with little problem. Just a little hand spade will easily loosen the dirt enough to remove the pest. The straps the form the cage at the bottom need to be in the bulged formation to allow the pest to easily pass through. The steel straps are easily ruined and fail to bulge out. If you spring them out to where they will bulge too much it will seize your trap and it won't work properly. A block of wood or something to set your camera on will improve your ability to work and hold the camera still enough for the watcher to see. Excellent trap. Great video. Keep on trapping! ps ; You'll experience a "bloom" if you don't keep em under control. FUN!

    I had a new lawn -sod - put in last summer and the moles destroyed are lawn in about 3 weeks while we were on vacation. Yes war time it was. What I do to locate a working tunnel is to take my garden hose and spray over the mount which than if the moles past through it would leave cracks at the mound. Area's my hose didn't reach I just used a sprinkling can to moisten the mounds. Once I saw the cracks in the soil than I knew where to place my traps. No sense in placing traps in a tunnel that isn't active at that time. I might try the ones you are using but they appear to be more for gofers than moles. We have tried every trap out there except the one you have. We use the spring-loaded type that when tripped bend the moles in half. Poor things they can go back to our neighbor's yard to play. They even go under fencing 3 feet under-ground to get to our flowers and garden. Thanks

      You'll never stop getting them. Others come back, especially after rain.

    Are they on the Federal endangered list. Just asking for someone else. Me, a 223 with a silencer on a tripod and in a deer stand would be my process. Good luck

    Gopher gassers! I toss them on into the woodchuck burrow. Then I plug / seal the holes with a gal size disposable plant holder followed by a few shovel fulls of dirt. Plugging gopher sized hole should be a lot easier. I’ve not tried pumping carbon monoxide into the burrows yet but I’ll bet that would work great too. Those traps are too time consuming and guess work. Hard pass.

    You need a shovel to dig out your trap instead of just pulling it out. The gopher can be big.

    Think terrier dogs are good for this, why they like to dig instinctively. Maybe can borrow some? Good idea luck.

    Look for a local removal service that has a rodent blaster. It will only take a few minutes and you will be vermin free. Money well spent.

      You might be outside for a long time if they have established mounts, since they may not dig new ones.
