"I got a letter..." What i love about the delivery of this line is that James sounds so broken. Like he knows what he's done, and its completely shattered him, but as he keeps talking, as he keeps pondering, he's (whether intentionally or not) creating the delusion that Mary died *three years ago.* Hence why he starts to sound less broken, and more semi normal, if a bit more confused and melancholic.
I got a letter. The name on the envelope said 'Mary.' My wife's name... It's ridiculous, couldn't possibly be true... That's what I keep telling myself... A dead person can't write a letter. Mary died of that damn disease three years ago. So then why am I looking for her' Our 'special place'... What could she mean' This whole town was our special place. Does she mean the park on the lake' We spent the whole day there. Just the two of us, staring at the water. Could Mary really be there' Is she really alive... waiting for me'
This was to be named wishful thinking... I really feel something playing silent hill games. They are not just games, they are art! Masterpiece! I feel so lucky for having born in this generation. And having knowing silent hill... 🥺
I was in the other room listening to this and the feeling this song gave me was that of a humble wish, one, very earnest wish. So I think Wishful thinking does definitely fit for sure but the other name Letters can work to for the narrative of james reading the letter and thinking on Mary
It always struck me as the most haunting and melancholic piece of music in SH2. It has a low fi quality to it, the guitar is slightly out of tune and there are a couple of bum notes. I wonder if that was intentional or just played and recorded from the hip. Either way it perfectly captures the mood of the scene.

Hermosa melodia
Cierto. Esta canción es demasiado tranquila como para ser de un juego de terror.
