And unfortunately I used up my first triangle so thought I could figure out how to cut at 45 degrees but it wasted the remainder of the fabric. Wish there was a note on what to do with that extra if needed.
Glad I saw this. I am about to do my first scallop edged baby quilt for a co-worker. I thought I would have to purchase bias binding in the package. BLECH! LOL. Now I can use the print I want to compliment the quilt.
Hmmmm... You might have to cut through a single layer to make that happen. You could still fold the fabric to make the first cut and then separate the pieces to cut the rest of the strips. You'll want to cut both pieces while they are right side up. If one is upside down while being folded with the other layer that's when the stripes become a mirror image of the upright layer.
That quilt is made with a 45 degree ruler. It isn't my pattern, I made it several years ago from a book called Quick Star Quilts and Beyond. This one is called Broken Star. I think you'd have to look at the pattern/book to see what ruler they had you use (it was big and came in a set with a smaller one too if I'm remembering right).

@@kristamoser Awesome. Happy New Year!,,, love the videos by the way, thanks for sharing. So many ideas for so many projects........can’t wait to use my ruler.
You can cut the whole piece into strips, they will get shorter as you work your way to the edge, but they can all be sewn together. I just cut the first piece into strips in the video, the piece that I set aside can also be cut into strip in the same way... it now has a bias edge from that first cut. I hope that helps!

Omg this truly is the best, shortest yet easily explained bias binding video. I adore you!!! Thanks so much 🙏🏻

I love your smile and the way you present your tutorials
Awww thank you for the kind note Monika!
Thanks very much for this tutorial, as a newer quilter bias does seem a little intimidating BUT this explanation makes it achievable ..
It really isn't hard once you try it out!!
I'm glad I found this video. This is very helpful to me. Thank you.
I am so glad to hear it Ovetta!

Yay Kathy! Yes you'll never have bland binding again :)
You go girl
You're a genius! Thanks for your demo😃
This is a great video! Thanks!!
Oh my goodness Krista, what a gorgeous quilt!!! Do you quilt your own quilts? Will be getting busy with your Scallop Template.
how do you fold the fabric to get the stripes to slant in the same direction? I keep get half one way.. half the other way...
Hmmmm... You might have to cut through a single layer to make that happen. You could still fold the fabric to make the first cut and then separate the pieces to cut the rest of the strips. You are a genius
Hahaha! Thank you Mumtaz! I'm glad this was helpful :)
I absolutely love the quilt on the wall behind you. Do you know if it is using the 9.75" x 16.5" diamond ruler?
That quilt is made with a 45 degree ruler. It isn't my pattern, I made it several years ago from a book called Quick Star Quilts and Beyond. This one is called Broken Star. I would love to know the pattern of the quilt in the background.
That one is called Broken Star from a book several years back... I do know it is still out there though!
@@kristamoser Can you please pass along where we might find this pattern? Thanks a bunch

Thank you so much!
You bet!!
How do you go on if you need more strips? This was confusing to me.

yes Me Too !!!!! the pattern in the background! WOW stunning I want that pattern? Plz

You bet Beth!!
Love quilt on wall. Name and do you sell pattern? Tks
That's a quilt I did many years ago. It may be Broken Star, but I'm not sure. No, we do not sell it.
That pattern is called Broken Star, it has been around quite awhile and I think it is still available in a book. I do not sell this pattern though.
Great
Where can I get the pattern on the wall behind you?
I made that quilt several years ago from a book called Quick Star Quilts and Beyond. This one is called Broken Star.
@@kristamoser maybe you will do a tutorial on this one. Love your tutorials!
Thank you
I would find it helpful to see the table and cutting angle rather than a camera shot on Krista.
How do I get the pattern for the quilt on the wall behind you?
That pattern is Quick Split Broken Star by Jane Krentz from her book, Quick Star Quilts.
