I met Mike back in 1996 when I started selling cars at " Newark Dodge ", Mike was a painter for their body shop. Me, being in my early 20s didn't grasp back then how special Mike was or the Super Bee. I became friends with Mike. With a big race coming up at Maple Grove drag strip, Mike asked me if I'd be interested in going and helping him in between runs with the car- of course I accepted his offer !! Mike of course, towed the " Bee" up to Maple Grove. My job while there, was to keep ice in a chiller for the fuel to pass through, in a small container mounted in the engine bay where the fuel line was spiraled through. It was my first and only time at Maple Grove, but, gotta tell you, was one of my best memories !! Mike is one of nicest, most humble people you'll ever meet !! His demeanor you see in this video is exactly like he is in real life !! He's told me countless stories about cars history and crazy offers of people trying to buy it ! He was offered 7 figures multiple times, but, if you know Mike, money and material things are the last things that he cares about- music and friendship is what brings smiles on his face.. Plus cars, he loves cars !! Thanks Lou for another great episode !

My EXACT fantasy Mopar since "71, when I was 8 (lol). Don't care what others say, it's my favorite Charger body style, with '68-'70 a close 2nd. The Holy Grail Hemi, 1 of 22, is the "cherry on top". If I had enough $ to find one of the others, it would absolutely be my daily driver (octane booster, of course...) Thanks, Lou- what a ride !!
Lou, I’m sure someone else must have mentioned it but in 1971 only a little over 5,000 Superbee’s were produced by Chrysler. Now the best part;I’ve heard only 9….let me repeat that, 9 were made with the 426 Hemi. Early in the production year, Chrysler pulled the 426 as an engine option. I believe the gentleman said the car was built in June which would be correct of a built in 1970 for the 1971 year. That’s why the salesman told him it needed to be ordered that day because of July 1 the 426 Hemi was gone forever. I hope your views know what a Christmas treat of a car you’ve chosen for us. In case you live on Mars, you’re looking at a car that would fetch way north of $1,000,000 at auction. Thx again Lou for the time you spend showing us these memorable cars from the past.
Bradydog, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Not sure what the value of this car would be. My pleasure sharing "these memorable cars from the past." with you. You're welcome, Lou
There was a total of 9 made that year with the 426 Hemi and auto trans. This is indeed one of those 9. Additionally though, 13 were produced with the Hemi and 4 speed for a grand total of just 22 in 1971!
Wow Lou. You've done it again! What a legendary Mopar. 1 of 22 🤯 is why I've never seen one. Love it. Thanks Mike & Lou for bringing us another fantastic piece of automotive history. I love this body style.
Another outstanding car and an outstanding car story! Brotherly love and Hemi horsepower go hand in hand, and Mr. Boswell has done a wonderful job of keeping those fond memories vivid for all of us to enjoy. Thanks, Lou!
Wow, Lou! What a beauty. One might say this generation of Charger became bloated and a caricature of the prior generation, but this style has its own charm. It is amazing how many spinoffs that Chrysler made off this chassis throughout the years. You are the best with your channel, Lou!. Merry Christmas to you and to your family and to all viewers and those whose cars you feature!
Hi John, Happy to read you enjoy this "Amazing survivor. A hero's car indeed" :-) Happy Hemi Merry Christmas. Glad to read your enjoying the Channel with me. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou

Love that 1971 SuperBee! I love hearing the backstories from owners of original cars and such. Hard to believe a tach was optional on a 426 Hemi!!!!! That’s crazy!!!!

HI Cas par from France, Happy to read "Wonderful story and for me one of the nicest cars you've shown this year." :-) NICE! You're welcome. Cheers, Lou
Extremely sweet and rare car. I have always loved the looks of the 71 and 72 Chargers and had a 72 Charger Rallye 340-4 speed in Hemi orange with the white vinyl half top, black interior, 4 wheel drum brakes, and manual brakes and steering. 36K original miles. I wish I still had it but my nephew has it now.

I had the pleasure of lining up next to this car in my 70 Charger at Cecil County dragway back in 1984. Needless to say, the Bee was at the end of the track when I was at the 60ft mark.

We laugh when we see it now but $4900 for a car in 1971 was a good piece of change. The best $883 dollars his brother ever spent was putting that 426 Hemi in the car. What a lasting tribute to his brother!…..I know many MOPAR guys who would give their “eye” teeth just to purchase this one. I think it’s safe to say it’s in good hands and not going anywhere! Isn’t it a wonderful thing to see a guy with a rare Superbee Hemi go out and thrash it around!! It was what the car was ment to do, not sit in a car collection!
Hi Rich G, Happy to read "Wow what a great car and story! One of my all time favorite's, even being a Chevy guy!" :-) High praise from a Chevy Guy! Glad to read you have some fun diecast cars of the 1971 Charger. NICE! Lou
Wow what a a great story and you got to love the car since it has a 426 Hemi with a 4-speed and it's all original this was a nice story on Christmas Day Merry Christmas Lou and your family😊😊😊
Hey Lou! This was some video, big brother. This Birthday/Christmas/New Year's time is a real full, powerful and exhausting time for me, actually. Mike's story about his big brother Richard and his absolutely gorgeous Dodge really touches my heart. All the boys piling in after a baseball game for ice cream is an amazing piece of Americana we can all relate to and cherish. You just know JV Johnny would be there, probably knocked out 😵and having to be carried out over a guy's shoulder in his limp and dangling stocking and ribbon stirupped calves and feet, but with all those rowdy brothers that would not be a problem, right Lou 🤣😜??! Hearing about Rich's indomitable spirit is truly inspiring as a man, and his memory lives on, certainly. And big bro-these fuselage era Chrysler muscle cars are just SOOOOO freaking beautiful, sexy and hot, man. Look at her lines......stunning. (Did I mention I'd be 100% KO'd, whether 13 or now at 54 lol 🤪??) That ice cream must have been melting on those boys' cones, but she would just love it. All her boys. Very sweet and cool, big bro. Thanks for all the inspiration Lou, and A Blessed and Prosperous New Year 2025 to you and your family!!!! YEAH!! JV Johnny/Robin ⚾⚾
Hey JV Johnny, Happy to read you're "real full" this time of year. Sounds FUN! Glad to read this video / story touches your heart :-) Nice. Happy to read you enjoy the design of this car. My pleasure sharing this story with you. You're welcome, Lou
I'm sure the cost was the reason for the scarcity, and if you bought the hemi, you weren't getting air conditioning, so based on where you live, you might like the air conditioning.

Hi Barrycuda, Happy to share this car and story with you, Lou
That is strange the hemi motor wasn't limited production they would make as many as you wanted but only a few thousand people a year bought a hemi car
I'm sure the cost was the reason for the scarcity, and if you bought the hemi, you weren't getting air conditioning, so based on where you live, you might like the air conditioning.
Great story! 1 of 22 but did he mention which number out of the 22?
Hi Al, Happy to read "Great story!" :-) Not sure of the number out of 22, Lou
