- Founder's day program with a difference. This time we invited two speakers to talk on a subject which has been a bane of our society for centuries- The Caste system. Sri Bhagavad Ramanuja was one of the vehement opposers of caste system. We remember him and what he stood for in eliminating caste from our society. This is an explosive speech by Suki Sivam, frank and soul searching, built on the ground prepared by D A Joseph. The speech had everyone thinking!

To Suki Sivam: Ramanuja in his Sri-Bhasyam (Sutra 1.3.33- 1.3.39) discusses Adhikari [eligibility] for scriptural study and knowledge [Brahma Vidya]. He concluded, Shudra is not eligible to study Veda, so not eligible for Brahmavidya. In this book he denied Brahma-Vidya to lower caste by birth.

Thanks for your kind remembrance. I am looking forward to the next opportunity to meet you. I read the comment of Mr. Jean . I hope the following message will satisfy you.
Sri Ramanuja is very much misrepresented in modern days. He was never against Varnasrama Dharma. People nowadays portray him as Periyar of 10th century . No he was not The only reformation he brought about was that true devotees of God who belong to the lowest caste must be treated in par with Brahmins . Even this was too much for the contemporary society and so they tried to kill him.
Not all Brahmins were allowed to study vedas . Only Brahmins who had Vedic initiation can study vedas, because pronunciation was most important in chanting manthras. The slightest variation would cause havoc in results.
1. Brahmins who had stammering were denied vedic study.
2. Brahmins with non-brahmin habits were forbidden.
3. Sativic make of the body and life were the main reasons.
4. Sudras had no food restrictions. So their tongue was not as sharp and as flexible as an orthodox brahmin.
5. Sudras lived a life of unrestricted code of living like vice habits, too much of indulgence in fine arts, commercial pursuits etc. Which were detrimental to vedic study.
6. I am not talking of today's Brahmin. Brahmins of those days lived upto vedic standards, not to speak of a few exceptions
7. Ramanuja speaks of denying vedic study to sudras because in later writings he insists that tamil vedas are a Thousand times superior to Sanskrit vedas and everyone can study Tamil Vedas.
8. In Ramanuja's personal life he used only Tamil Pasurams as vedic manthras whenever he was faced with problems .
(a) When muslims came to demolish Sriranganathar Temple. He chanted the Tamil pasuram "ஆழி எழச் சங்கம் எழ" . The mulims ran away.
(b) For Prathistha of idol in Melakottai he chanted "ஒருநாயகமாய்". He did not seek Sanskrit vedas.
9.Modern Brahmins who opt western living like a cropped head . Dressed in long trousers. consuming Coffee and Tea watching TV and going abroad are not allowed to study the vedas though they transgress the rule.
If you listen to my speech of Hotel Savera you can notice that I was very careful in dealing with Ramanuja's social reformation. You may come back to me if you have anymore doubts.
@@Thulasisinusandnose good answer:) people misunderstand the varna ashrama with the caste they are born into...varna ashramam was set for the type of work we did not what we are born into...also, there is a misunderstanding about the words BRAHMIN and BHRAHMAN....BHRAHMAN means enlightened...anyone can become a bhrahman once we gain the right knowledge about any subject and work towards the progress of our society... the modern society has lot of confusion because of the caste system...

Another classic instance from Swami Ramanujar's life is Swami did not enforce his wish to implement his beloved Paancharaatra Aagama in Thiruvanandapuram and Puri Jagannathan temples as per the wishes of local people (Namboothiris in Thiruvanandapuram and Tribals in Puri) and the respective Lord. Even he almost gone to the places to change the aagama.

Kallazhagar Perumal's name is Sundararaja Perumal and thayar peyar Kalyana Sundaravalli in Madurai and not Soundarajra Perumal. Soundaraja perumal is in Nagapattinam.
Adiyen got blessed to have darshan from perumal procession from temple to beach during maasi magam day 2 years back. But now, there is no event of involvement by fishermen as mentioned in the video. Probably it got diluted. Not sure.
Fishermen involvement is on Thirukkannapuram Sowriraja perumal during maasi magam day at sea. The Perumal is known as 'Mappillai sami' by them

i am not sure if this person is knowingly speaking a language that you all know of, or just another person amongst those, who does not know the language of the highest wise. His words , if , even if one among the crowd allow to reach and strike the inner core, there can be no other blessing ever.
example, when he says, one has to see THAT in everybody, one has to see THAT as everybody, he uses names of person like Ramanujar, kids playing with toys, etc..
See one can able to see so, only when one is enlightened. To get enlightened one has to constantly be inquiring within oneself about self and the whereabout of THIS in self. THIS and THAT enquiry... constantly until THIS merge with THAT and to know it for sure (not belief or faith - should KNOW) , .. nobody need to certify. One would know it when they happen to merge..
see , I told you, I cannot speak the language of yours, to communicate as this person. But not sure, even if that kind of language has reached even one in the gathering. So I tried this. Now, Knowing that my language is tough, you atleast listen to him again and see if it helps. but do not try to listen with mind or logic. but listen without allowing mind to think of anything. Take help of reciting a mantra and keep a count of it... so the mind is busy with mantra and the count, while you can listen to him with total dedication...

i was going to comment about it, but i also forgot to pin this point here after being okay with many of the words he showered other than these..
Also, there is this another reason, wherein many come to ashram in guise of learning, but only to destroy the good activities going on..
like, for example, the case of Nithyananda, coming in like disciples, provoking actress to behave in ways that even great rishis struggled to win over...
i feel he is under pressure ( also the head injury seem to confirm this ) from other groups to speak against present gurus.
