  • Teams from Airbus Defence and Space and Tata Advanced Systems Limited are pioneering a 'Make in India' aerospace partnership with the #C295 India programme. Of the total 56 aircraft ordered by the Indian Air Force, 16 will be manufactured by Airbus in Seville, Spain, while the remaining 40 will be produced by TASL at the C295 Final Assembly Line in Vadodara, Western India. Both partners are developing a complete industrial ecosystem in India: from detailed parts production to assembly, testing, delivery and maintenance throughout the aircraft's life cycle. Meet some of the people involved in this ground-breaking programme and see the power of cross-cultural collaboration in action!

    Airbus is selling hundreds of civilian planes to Indian carriers.. yet it manufactures next to nothing in India. The only reason C295 is being built in India is because of the terms of the defense contract. India should switch to High speed rail and reduce it reliance on Airbus/Boeing. That will keep more of the transport dollars & jobs within Indian Industry and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Airbus won't even setup assembly lines in India despite getting orders for hundreds of planes from Indian carriers.

      Maybe the government should also start getting serious about funding indigenous aircraft programs? NAL RTA-70 is moving at a snail's pace right now. Heck, even ADA programs have to wait for funding. Indigenous engine programs are similarly underfunded. We aren't serious about this stuff, honestly. This is not how you create an Indian Sukhoi or Irkut or Comac. Russia and China are serious about their aerospace industries. While we are happy playing second fiddle to the Westerners.

    • @abracadabra42
      @abracadabra42 2 месяца назад +2

      @@death_parade China with all its economic and industrial prowess had limited success in building civilian aircrafts. Civilian aircrafts have extremely high certification bars and even if they are certified they have to be extremely efficient to justify the operating cost for airlines. So it might be better to use all the limited resources on AMCA.. even then we might have to import GE engines for those AMCAs. Meanwhile GoI should focus on building low-cost HSR and pressure Airbus/Boeing to assemble in India. We are playing third fiddle to westerners and strive to atleast play second fiddle like Japan & Korea.

    • @abracadabra42
      @abracadabra42 2 месяца назад +2

      @@Starlink502 it would be a disaster if I am the 'only one'. China built extensive HSR network and significantly undercut Boeing/Airbus business in their country. Cherry on top… they also got Boeing and Airbus to assemble and manufacture advanced parts in their country. Now they are using all this know-how from Boeing and Airbus to improve their COMAC jets.

    • @death_parade
      @death_parade 2 месяца назад +3

      @@abracadabra42 I know the problem with the highly competitive airliner market. Efficiency born out of technology that we can't hope to master in just two decades. But this is where government support comes in. China started its journey because of government support. Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. And no, that step shouldn't be as tepid as spending $400 Million over a period of three decades to build a jet engine from scratch when the competition is spending Billions annually. Yeah, they got the industry and the scale, but even spending $100 Million per annum on the jet engine programs will yield us MASSIVE results (catch up growth is always faster).
      Instead, our government gives away $2.3 Billion annually as aid to other poor nations, not counting the around $30 Billion given as lines of credit and currency swaps, etc. We spent all that money on Afghanistan, and yet, what do we have to show for it at the end of the day? Imagine had we spent that much money on Kaveri program.

    Sadly....the strength of C -295 aircrafts ordered by the MOD for replacing the old Hawker Siddley HS 748 never increased, still maintains the old. Wonder there will be any followup order for more after 56 are inducted. May end up the fate of C-17 situation where the govt at the last moment places extra order when boeing starts to seize the production.

      C-295 is from Spain not France. The Airbus C295 (previously CASA C-295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA. This is why they are built in Seville.

    No acabo de entender este tipo de contratos. A cambio de vender 16 aviones españoles se está cediendo la capacidad y el conocimiento técnico de construir este tipo de aeronaves a un tercer país, sin más?

      Incluso sin que Airbus construyera el C-295 aquí, India ya estaba construyendo el Su-30 MKI ruso en India. Y la India también ha desarrollado desde cero su propio caza de 4,5ª generación, denominado Tejas Mk1A, del que se han encargado 220 unidades. Así que lo único que hace este contrato es ayudar a expandir la industria aeroespacial que ya existe en la India. India también podría haberlo hecho sin este contrato, pero habría llevado más tiempo. No hay tecnología en este avión que sea más avanzada que la utilizada en el Tejas MK1A o el Su-30 MKI.

      Total order in present is of 56 units , repeat order will be given in future . Total units will cross 130 . India will be largest user of c295 .

      @@amitbhatt6036 There will be no repeat order. An-32 are being replaced by much larger MTA. We need larger aircraft, C-295 is just for HS-748 replacement. Since originally we had just 56 HS-748, our C-295 order will also be limited to 56 aircraft, plus a few more for the Navy and Coast Guard's Medium Range MPA program, which will probably add no more than 16 aircraft.
