This guy has about 50 yrs. of daily experience working with these cars. Nobody in the US maybe the world knows as much as 914 as much as he does. Wish he would write a book before he expires. What a wealth of information should be preserved.
Thank you very much for a very informative video. I have a' 75 2.0 since more than 8 years now, and we had a lot of problems with the idle. We can't get the auxiliary air valve to work properly and the throttle body has a small vacuum leak. I finally found a throttle body in the UK last week but it isn't installed yet. It's a pity we don't have someone like you in Belgium. But I'm sure my mechanic will like your video.
Very informative video George, thank you for posting it! I'm the winner of the blue 76 that sold on BAT last week that I believe you committed on during the auction. I can't wait to get it back here in the Carolinas and jump in feet-first. But I've had very little experience with Bosch FI systems so this is all new to me. But rest assured, that little jewel of a car will keep it's FI system intact! Thanks for the great videos because this really helps folks like myself that are new to the 'teener'!
@@MrWeliz The current wisdom is that unless you're seriously modifying the engine that the factory fuel injection is superior to a carb setup. With that said dual side draft webers have an amazing throaty sound that you might enjoy, but possibly get tired of after a long day of driving.
Nice to see all the parts that were removed from my engine decades before I got it. Should have scavenged for the parts for a future restoration when they were much less sought after.
Great video George. Next time an unmolested 1.8L come through your shop we would love to see the same type video comparing L-Jetronic to the D-Jetronic.
Hi George. Thanks for the great video on the 2.0 914 motors.Very informative and detailed. Nothing skipped and all spoken with years of experience and passion. Just wondering if I can ask a question of you? My 76 912e starts up fine but once the temp gauge leaves the cold range and enters into the warmer indication the motor quits and won't restart until I let it cool down. What should I look for to remedy this? I look forward to visiting you when I'm in the south. Thank you, George. Regards, Paul.
I have been planning my purchase of a 914 for probably 4 years now. This is bar none the more informative video of a 914 engine I've ever seen.

@@autoatlantainc.2267 Dr 914 is the injection problematic in these cars and what is your opinion of weber carburetors for a 914.

Hi George, a friend of mine has imported from USA the same '75 914 with the air pump, can we totally eliminate the whole air pump system?
If you have no concerns about the cleanliness of the exhaust fumes you can safely delete it.
What transmission does the 76 2.0 have?
