    Thank you! I have a question, how do you have so much knowledge about these majestic beings and such great video access Larry? Do you work at the zoo?

    • @larrysanimalsafari
      @larrysanimalsafari  2 года назад +9

      While I have no formal education in biology/zoology, I do have a life long interest in animals. Then, there are many zoo websites & other resources on the internet where I get the facts I want. Access? I schedule my trips to the zoo right at opening time and/or on days when attendance is low. I do not work at the zoo. I did work there in the past, but that was as a tram driver/ ride operator. Now, I am not given any special access to exhibits. I did not get an opportunity to visit animals back then. But enjoyed the environment. ( I might visit the zoo for an hour and not get any good video. The next day I might visit and get all I need in just 20 minutes.)

    He actually gets cuter by the day and I didn't think it was possible. There sure are some kind adults in his troop, too. Mokolo has a big space in my heart.
    You, too, Larry, for bringing these amazing videos to us all. Blessings to you.

    Kayembe resembles Jabali and Ringo in Taipei. Their noses and build are very similar. Are they related along any family line?

    • @larrysanimalsafari
      @larrysanimalsafari  Год назад

      Hmm, what I do know is Mokolo is Kayembe’s father and Kayembe is Mokolo’s first offspring. Nneka, his birth mom, did have another baby while at the San Francisco Zoo. Usually, gorillas in North America stay in North American zoos. But, I have not followed what happened to Nneka’s first. One of my subscribers may know more about Nneka’s first offspring.

      @@larrysanimalsafariI’m 99% sure that the Cleveland gorillas are not related to the gorillas in Japan. Unless Japan exported some of their gorillas in the 70’s? I’m digging into gorilla family trees now!

    Cute but i wish the adults would teach the little ones stop when they are told to. I know they are babies but it is needed

  • @kimveazey9036
    @kimveazey9036 2 года назад

    Love the videos! However, I don't think cards, dice and a doll count as enrichment. They see someone shaking dice in a can, they can't touch, taste or explore those items so that's not enrichment. Now, if you taught ASL for the items then they would be getting enrichment, as they can learn a language for communication.

    • @larrysanimalsafari
      @larrysanimalsafari  2 года назад +2

      I’d say you’re basically right, however if you’ll allow me… I’d say I’m able to give them a positive interaction with an unfamiliar object that may encourage them to explore and help make their day more interesting. I think that’s the best I can do as a visitor to the zoo. 😁

      @@larrysanimalsafariHi - It's obvious the animals were interested and engaged.
      (But people 🤦😬)
      Fwiw, I believe folks can send/exude vibes that are helpful to captive animals - and even upset them, too. (A friend's a primate expert at Emory w/ informal theories about that very thing. He's been working w/them for 50+ years.) 💕🦍🐒💖
