I'm a massive Penn State fan. I don't see how Kirk can still have a job. Heck we are absolutely sick of Franklin because we lack offense. I can't imagine the suffering Iowa fans must be going through. It's painful even for me to see, and I'm not even an Iowa fan.
As a retired engineer that spent a career in corporate cultural change, the top is generally the most difficult to accept change in general. Kirk in my opinion fits this. Kirk is comfortable in his structure and not really interested in pushing any envelopes. Some people simply refuse change. In my early corporate training one philosophy that has proven time and time; Educate or Eliminate, Grow or Go. Go Hawks
Iowa just needs to go out an hire a high school coach for pennies. It's not like Kirk is going to let them run anything but an ultra conservative offense.
This is all great that no other teams can poach their defensive coaches so they pay $1.9 for their DC & $1M for a LB coach but they don't have what they need the most- an OC! What has been the worst offense for the past 5 years and would have fired any other coach in the country if it wasn't for having the best defense to save Ferentz ass. How a team can function and recruit for 90 days without a OC & QB coach is beyond me but I guess K. Proctor sees the benefit to transfer to a team without knowing what kind of offense or who the OC will be. Who would have thunk that their biggest recruit in Ferentz tenor 5*, freshman All American at Alabama and #2 rated recruit in the class during this time of unknown???🙃
There’s not enough money in Iowa to properly fund three D1 programs at the very least, We need to get rid of one of them. Both UNI and ISU should be demoted if we want a chance at a national title.
It’s because Ferentz won’t give full reign over the offense is what I have been hearing. I believe it why would anybody want to walk into a position like that unless they are already on the staff or at a lower level school, and working to move up.
I see the Iowa OC job as probably the top OC job today. I mean if KF would let someone actually do their job it’s nothing but upside. It wouldn’t take much to get this offense in the top 70. That’s all we need at this point.
That is assuming transfers could be lured BY the new OC alone to what has been a dumpster fire as long as young kids remember. The portal will also be closed at this rate by the time the new oc gets off the plane, let alone make living arrangements for him and his family.
Football in the upper Midwest and plains has never been better. From Mizzou to the Kansas schools to Wisconsin, everyone seems to be under competent management. That's a problem. Talent is limited, and schedules are getting more difficult. Find a semi-local guy who wants a big check, give him a multi-year deal, and let him work.
If Iowa's women's team could only play some defense and not give up 100 points to Ohio State. What kind of coaching was that to not adjust to front Mcmahon in the middle who is 6' tall and dropped 33. She averages 14.
Do you guys really think Ferentz is excited to bring in an offense that is going to make Brian look as terrible as he was. Dont forget, Ferentz is stubborn as hell.
I'm waiting... I'm waiting... I'm waiting... I'm waiting... I'm waiting... I'm waiting... I'm waiting... We're at the 7 minute mark and you haven't mentioned the obvious essential move that Kirk had to make vis-a-vis Phil Parker. Anyone there? Hey? Kirk not only had to make the increase in Phil's salary, but.... Finally! 10:30 mark. Thank you. Why not fish in the big pond? Why not spend $2M for an OC? I bet there's more Phil Parker raises. $2.5M $3.0M Why not. Kirk wants to hire a great OC, but he can probably only give Phil that big a raise over one year's time. If he hangs around he'll be worth lots more. And Kirk will want to dangle raises for the OC hire. Yay! Paul C and Philbin gone! Yay! And hey! Don't cry too much over Paul. Elliot! $2.0M is plenty to hire a great OC!
Gawd boys! Your brains seem to be twisted into pretzels. Why not take your time and get the guy you want? Who says Kirk wanted to hire either Paul or Philbin? Yeah he hasn't told you three, but if I were hiring and OC, I'd take my time to get it right. Oh dang, Iowa won the Big Ten West. Come on. Maybe you've created your next controversy, Yeah we all want to known who it will be, but quit bashing him. It'll be okay.
this is a clown show from these three, 10 and 3 and your not having FUN . he will hire the best fit for the iowa program, all these players are returning why, kurt play s the long game.fans have no clue of player
This not how things go in college football anymore. Kirk is behind the times with this hire -- or lack thereof. It was reported by Leistikow that Chryst was KF's top choice.
@@HankBanke-el7xe Yes, 10-4 and I didn't have any FUN. Combined 92-0 score against the only three ranked teams they played. Struggling to win games against Utah State, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, and Nebraska. Lost to the worst Minnesota team in the Fleck era. The 132nd offense in the country. This season was trash.
Coaching is year around and so is recruiting yet Iowa can go in for 3 months without an OC & QB coach. You can't wait for the right guy. The right guy would have happened 2 months ago. It's naive as can be to think you can go this long.
Really difficult to listen to this crybaby fest. Especially looking at 3 pin heads who probably have never worn a jock strap beyond junior high gym class. You guys really don't have a clue on this at all. KF has more experience in his right pinky than all three of you could even come up with. KF will get this right in the end.
Now is that any way to talk to one of the worst defensive tackles in Cornell College history / a B+ student in Coaching Football? Like most people who played, I never had the athletic ability or the focus to be as competitive in football as I wanted to be. Came to terms with that a LONG time ago. But just so you're aware, as journalists, we talk to many people who played football, at Iowa and elsewhere, including current players and coaches. It's literally our job.
Actually I do as my father was an offensive assistant coach under Fry in the 80's with two B1G championships and the best QB in Iowa history named Chuck Long & 3 first round offensive draft picks after the 85-86 season. Oh and why hasn't he been offered the job. Bcuz he would turn it down faster than PCryst with Ferentz holding back the offense. No one wants to run a 1970's style offense like under Commings.

Go Hawks
David Byrne St Vincent signed pic is awesome in the background
Thank you! It's their album cover, only WISH it was signed; saw them at 80/35 (too many years ago) and was blown away.
The OC really needs to be the OB coach as well ideally.

Let’s just be honest, why would anyone want what OC job?? That offense is the biggest disaster in history.

QUESTION! "NO ONE WANT'S TO TAKE THE POSITION???"

I've read a lot of Ross and Adam's journalism in the past on BHGP and GIA and respect their work, but this Eliot guys is pretty annoying....yikes
Maybe they could have the defense play both ways? At this point, what do they have to lose?😂😅
Steve ferentz is available....
It will be someone that he can control like David Raih.
When's the last time you want a national championship never
Why is it a nightmare? He's waiting for nfl season to get over.
