When asked by Word magazine in 2011 "Do you feel protective of an album when it's finished? Do you want it to be understood or do you just let go and see what happens?", Kate Bush answered "I think that's all you can do. I certainly don't expect people to understand it. Why should they? If people like it or find it moving, you hand it over don't you? That's why I don't like going into huge detail about what the songs are about. " (see above)
If Mozart was a "pop" artist in this time. he would be Kate Bush. Kate Bush does indeed live and exist in her own musical universe. What a wonderful universe to share with us.
"What I used to love about buying an album was it was my interpretation. Did I like it? Did it do anything for me? People mishear lyrics. I think that's great. I love all that".
This is a nice in-depth review of Kate's album inspired on snow. It is af course very different compared to her previous work. Her voice has changed with age and because she likes to experiment and to change and evolve, it may be difficult for some fans to appreciate this album at first listening. Me too I had that difficulty but I learnt to appreciate it. Ithink Kate Bush really succeeded in creating a winter athmosphere, less noisy, when people turn more inside when it is cold outside.Welldone
One of my favorite, top-of-the-heap albums of the last decade, and since I began to pay attention to music and develop my own personal tastes in music. The vinyl set is magnificent. The exquisite liner notes. The top quality, anti-static, acid-free sleeves. Gorgeous package for gorgeous music. The only other album in the last decade to move me in such a way, but on different terms, is Siouxsie's 'Mantaray.'
I really love her songs.. I like various music, but she is the one, who puts me back on my feet again and again, makes me love life so much, makes me calm when I'm angry, makes me joyfull when I'm pessimistic, makes me full of energy and strong when I'm passiv and weak. That's a magic ^-^v I wish her all these - joy and love and happiness and inspiration etc., that I recieve from listening to her songs ^-^

'Ever since her debut, the epithet "The first female artist to..." has been accompanying her' - great line

Great, heartfelt review from an intelligent man. And 50 Words certainly deserves it

50 Words for Snow has probably become my favourite album ever - rich and emotive. Lovely album.
