Best voice ever!! Tony passing still saddens my heart. Addiction is real and can take out the best players. I so miss his voice his talent and this group was SO underrated.. RIP TONY..

I wish Tony, Roderick, Torriano, Marcus, and Russell had been able to make more music together...A professor once told me: "Sometimes life gets in the way." R.I.P. Tony Thompson 💜
I saw them in concert back in Feb 2014 at the Valentine's concert with Jagged Edge before Russell killed his wife. I watched their unsung special after he killed his wife and he seemed so together and mature when they were interviewing him (not saying a mature person can't kill anyone, he just didnt seem he'd do something like that, just his whole demeanor and his personality). Idk if he snapped or what, but I guess he wont be performing anymore w/ hi 5 and he's still living unlike Tony who is no longer with us and that's his reason he'll never perform again. R.I.P Tony!! R.I.P Russell's career and R.I.P to his wife!!
@@Carolina_girl86 Russell had money troubles. I think that’s what he and his wife fought about. Even in Hi-5 they had money troubles. They were just a bunch of young boys who got swept along in the music biz, made some very bad decisions (as young guys do), and couldn’t seem to right their ship.
I like how they stopped him at the end like “yeah we get it bro but she too old for you.” That’s brotherhood right there. Love this song, love the video even more
The original members, they had better chemistry back then. Too bad we did not get a chance to see these five brothers full potential, but the group did well given the bad situations it faced. Definitely one of my fav groups
First BBD with "Back stage / Under age" and now Hi Five with "I was only 16 / She was 25." Because the young people would think music videos are lame because no woman taking out her fake butt cheeks. Nobody smoking weed (or rocks). They don't just want to see the talent and the executive producer all in the video dancing.
Tony was the best singer and dancer in this group by far. Plus he dominated the background singing as well. He could have been out from day one as a solo artist.

Classic example of way too much way too soon. He wasn’t even old enough yet for a driver’s permit when they recorded this and barely out of high school by the time Jive dropped the group and they were considered “washed up.” Add in the exposure to drugs and solo deals on the table with Bad Boy, etc, just a tragic tale. Incredible talent gone way too soon.

If people think New Edition got ripped off these guys couldn't even afford to buy cars after their hit songs and were in debt each time they toured. People like Berry Gordy didn't become rich by paying artists what they were worth.
