Y'all youngins talk a lot of ish, but Bobby WAS runnin' it in R&B-New Jack, back then - in fact, he was the one who helped New Jack Swing blow up, mainstream, changing the WHOLE SOUND, STYLE, and IMAGE of R&B (and he influenced dancing, big time), without taking it away from its roots ..Most of y'all don't know, because y'all seem to only know the, supposedly, "cracked-out" Bobby that you saw in the reality shows ..and now you THINK you know, after watching the bio-pic ..but you had to LIVE that time and era in R&B/hip-hop/New Jack to REALLY know..
...Bobby was, also, one of the brothas who helped usher in dark-skinned brothas to become more accepted as musical "heartthrobs", during a time when you had alotta light-skinned bruhs, like Al B. Sure, being seen as the primary heartthrobs (and it helped that his name was "BROWN!")

No doubt Bobby definitely had it going on. Gotta give a shout out & mad respect to Babyface & L.A. Reid too! Especially Face he deserves a lot of credit for writing & producing the majority of this album, "Don't Be Cruel" for Bobby. Face wrote so many songs for other artists & for us who grew up back in the day as R&B music fans. Which I'm willing to bet those songs were a good part of your childhood soundtrack along with Jam & Lewis, Teddy, Prince & Quincy, who were the pinnacles of R&B/Soul/& mainstream Pop music altogether. Just saying...

I was born in 1994 and I love music from the entire 20th century from the 1900s to the 1990s. When it comes to music, I live by the saying, "Variety is the spice of life." I don't have anything against today's music. I mean, I like Bruno Mars and Imagine Dragons. However, I will be honest about one thing. While I like hip hop and rap as much as the next person, I despise music that involves twerking or anything related to such dancing, such as this song for example.

Then I discovered this video and song yesterday and I was blown away to say the least. This guy was slim, happy, lookin real fly and got moves for days. In this video he seems like a highely functional and healthy cocaine enthusiast, as most good artists are. Maybe it was Whitney who dragged him down? I beg you to try to find another artist of his era who can even come close to B Brown. You won't bkz there are none & that's a factoid! He was a 1 of 1 for sure. He was the equivalent to what Chris Brown is (same last names to ironically lol) to this modern generation as far as his triple threat talent, domination dancing, singing, performing wise etc on God. That's how good Bobby was. U have no one of his era to compare him to so you are forced to jump into modern day times & need C Brown to match just how amazingly dope he was for hip hop & R&B same a Chris facts+facts!

This album came out in 1988, a year after Michael's Bad album came out. I don't think he was wearing the crown of the KING who was having the greatest tour of the 80s. Bobby was great but he wasn't no king. Michael's Bad album had 5 number ones. Two in 87 and 3 in 88.
