I used to think that too, but i listened to it too much and i prefer 2 now. Funny story, we were supposed to do 2, but the percussion teacher got 1. We olayed 2, but st the next concert we played 1. 2 is more nostalgic j guess
I’m in 6th grade and since one of my directors are retiring my other director talked to Micheal Sweeney and organized a song called Celtic Air and Dance no. 5. My band plus the 7th and 8th grade bands at my school are going to be the first ones playing it. Really I hope you guys enjoy the song as much as I do when it comes out to the public! 😊
I'm coming back to this video since I first watched it like a hear ago and now I'm starting to think red is the rose sounds like Loch Lomond cuz I played it in my concert earlier this month.
Does anyone else find it strange that this piece is written in 4/4 but played and conducted in 2/4? It always confused me when we played it at high school. Tempo is 80, so pretty slow, and if you play it as 4/4 at that pace, it's half the pace it should be. 🤔 But don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this piece of music.
@chatarrra7457 yes I know, I've played it numerous times, what I mean though, is that the whole piece is played/conducted in 2/4. If you play the first part in 4/4, it's half the speed it should be.
@chatarrra7457 no, if it was conducted in 4/4, it would be half the speed it should be (like I already said). The tempo is 80, that is VERY slow. This is being played at double that speed.
bro as a trumpet player i think the flutes definitely have the best part in this song.
I play the flute and we do play good
If you wear a headset while hearing, the flutes are almost the only thing you here in the left speaker!

There are 2 songs in this piece. The first one, is 4/4. The second one is 2/4

@@georgi8548 it’s not, just whoever conducted it for you chose to do it that way for some reason

@@georgi8548 it isn’t half the speed. Sync up an 80bpm metronome to the beginning they sound relatively similar
I’m playing this in my 8th grade band
