also depends on choices of wood
-acrylic on plywood reqiures lots of work because plywood has rough surface so worker has to prepare surface first which mean costs even more.
-arcylic on HMR/MDF is far easier to apply than plywood ,costs way less but inferiors wood quality and the project itself will weight A LOT.

When giving examples show the same color and tell. For example you mentioned Acrylic is visually appeal and refelective and showed bright colors, while showing the Laminate, you chose to show dark grey color obivous with that it seems it is less reflective. So it is quite confusing.

I am professional kitchen designer with an experience of 16 yrs
Some of the points u made were good but I could not resist myself for adding and correcting some points
Acrylic shutters have great look but but it's not durable for long time . Sratches can b visible within few days , Acrylic is a failed product in regards to durability. It's develops cracks within few years
If u r investing ur hard earned money for longer time then go for Laminated shutters or if u want premium look then pls go for Backpainted glass shutters .

We are stockist of acrylic sheets since 1999 the point made by you is somewhat incomplete , there are actually 2 types of acrylic sheets one is polystyrene and other is pmma ,the latter one is better scratch resistant to the former, but people tend to use the polystyrene one because is three times much cheaper
