    This episode reminded me of that classic Simpsons moment where the town discovers Principal Skinner isn’t really Seymour Skinner. Instead, he took on the name to avoid breaking the news to the real Seymour’s near-blind mother that her son had died. Despite this huge revelation, the show never referenced it again. Many Simpsons fans consider that episode the end of the show's 'golden era,' marking a shift to more episodic storytelling where past events had little bearing on future ones. Please, prove me wrong-I don’t want to look back on this football chat episode as the moment that marked the end of our golden era. Please, James. Please, Flav.

    Potential new bit?
    If a Premier League manager were a meal, what would they be? Eg:
    Thomas Frank - Toad in the Hole, a hearty meal that can be put together on shoe string but still leaves you satisfied. If the sausages are of the right quality you can make the meal work, even if you use some flour that’s been in the cupboard for a long time.
    Pep - Chateuabriand, the meat for the purists, a succulent cut. Sometimes people will want a cut with a bit more fat to add some flavour, but that’s not the way of Chateaubriand. Sometimes the waiter can yap on about how the cow was raised and its diet, which you have to nod along with until it’s time to eat.

    I do get Jim’s point about how damming the Tuchel appointment is for the English managerial system. It does show we don’t create managers of a good enough level. What I would say to that is, this is true whether we admit it or not. This was already true before Tuchel. Why try and plaster over it with a less talented manager and waste a chance with our golden generation? You can’t start to fix the problem until you admit there’s a problem. In appointing Tuchel we’ve admitted that English managers aren’t good. Now we can actually address why the system isn’t producing good managers. You can “England DNA” it. Build a complete consistent comprehensive framework for coaching education that isn’t stupidly expensive. Look at how Spain and Germany and Italy do it. Implement a philosophy for English coaches that can table them for success and also aligns with what we want the England team to play like. Obviously this is all easier said than done, but ultimately if we don’t change the system we won’t get better manager coming out of it

    i dont watch or care about international football in any capacity and its nothing to do with tuchel being german, but isnt the premise of international football the best of every nations talent and brains from that country? if a country has a poor managerial pool thats a limitation of the country really. I mean who the fuck was Croatias manager when they won the euros? Does the Spain manager have any pedigree at club level? It just makes English international football even more of a farce in my opinion. Would like to see a follow up on this discussion next week if its not tired.

    I understand some people like to think the nationality of international managers means nothing but obviously that isn’t the case and it’s pretty naive to think so. Managing a country is very different from just a club, everyone has their own biases and opinions about countries where very little care much about most clubs.
    I’m not saying Tuchel won’t give it his all but it’s not like he ever cared or supported England before this job like you’d imagine every English manager would. I’ll fully support him and I don’t doubt he’ll be completely professional but it’s just the underlying knowledge that he in general doesn’t care about the national team and would rather other teams win the World Cup/Euros (outside of this appointment I mean, as he’s the manager he’ll want us to win above all other teams, just that deep down he doesn’t support us over other nations).

      @@slayingroosters4355 dunno how you missed my point. Everyone has biases and opinions about countries because everyone is from a country. Not everyone supports a club from the Bundesliga, Premier League and Ligue 1 lol kinda obvious.
      If Tuchel doesn’t care about any clubs in the premier league why would he have any reason not to fully support Chelsea, whereas he clearly wouldn’t support the nation England over every other nation. That’s the clear difference…

    • @slayingroosters4355
      @slayingroosters4355 4 дня назад

      @@croissantpower I didn't miss your point it's just incorrect. Not EVERYONE has biases, just in your small experience. Not only that but having an opinion about something doesn't necessarily mean you support it. A lot of people from a lot of places despise everything there country does. Is it better to get an English manager who is bang average and anti nationalist, even going as far to hate the country, just because he is English? Again, I don't know how you didn't see I get your point it is just completely irrelevant. 💀 How do you know tuchel's views. Just because your one track mind can't comprehend something because it's not your view. Tuchel is German but the German media are very harsh on him due to his time there, so maybe he doesn't like the national team. Why would he be more likely to support any other national team than England if he doesn't support Germany. Not only that but you don't know he doesn't support another premier league club. He might have been a huge arsenal fan but thought well I'm going to make millions and Chelsea is still a big club. What I find funniest about your comment is that OBVIOUSLY not everyone supports a club from those three leagues but you instantly go on to say that if you're from a country you have to support that national team and you have to be biased towards them 🤣 I'm pretty sure it's also OBVIOUS that being from a country doesn't mean you have to like it

    • @croissantpower
      @croissantpower 4 дня назад

      @@slayingroosters4355 kinda agreed with me there by saying that some people despise their own country, you do realise that would mean they have a bias and opinion on it right? Lol
      Someone who hates England would obviously never take up the job and my whole point was for the manager to be English so they’d actually support the nation outside of their appointment and care about it, if they hated the country obviously would go against my only reasoning for wanting an English manager…
      I think it’s safe to say that a German prefers Germany to England but if you want to guess that he doesn’t, be my guest you’ll just sound idiotic (again).
      I said everyone has biases against countries and not everyone supports clubs from each particular league. The fact you find such an obvious statement so funny says a lot about you’re own grasp of reality. Either you have learning difficulties or you need to seek help

    • @hovis1st
      @hovis1st 4 дня назад

      Germans aren't Anglo Saxons. The Angles were a Germanic people that inhabited the south of what is now Denmark. They migrated to England before the Saxons, who were a Germanic tribe that lived in the north of Germany.
      The English aren't Anglo Saxons either, it's a weird and misinformed point that right wing nut jobs tended to make to separate our selves from both our Celtic and European neighbours which has somehow become a mainstream train of thought.
      The Anglo Saxons was a people formed out of the melting pot of the Celtic Britons inhabiting england, the Angles and the Saxons. English furthers that melting pot by throwing norse and norman (which is it's self a melting pot of Norse and French peoples, the French who them selves are latinised Germanics) into the mix, which distinctly makes us not Anglo Saxons anymore.
      The Saxons also weren't a major group in Germany, they were Conquered by the Franks, another Germanic people that also conquered France. Very little of the Saxons remains in German culture.
      So yeah, no, neither the Germans or the English are Anglo Saxons.

    Can’t they get rid of ffp because the gap is so big with or without it. Instead let teams spend big but introduce a rule e.g for every 1m spent, 5% goes down the efl, so if a team spends 100m in the summer they must contribute 5m extra into the efl.

    • @neilturner6749

      The gap with unlimited spending would be so extreme within the Prem itself that we’d be left with a La Liga style differential in finances.
      Like you’re % downwards idea on net overspend per season though, but it’d need to be on a sliding scale eg 0% on first £100M, 20% on £100-250M, 50% on £250M +

    Why on earth would Howe have been “perfect”? Has he ever been successful in knockout football? Has he ever managed a team to the top silverware? Has he ever dealt with the pressure of not being underdogs? Oh right, he was born here, guess that makes him the best candidate. Many Southgate naysayers pointed out his lack of nous in the big moments but there are zero English coaches that have demonstrated that.
    Tuchel, has succeeded at the highest level especially in cup competitions. He’s charismatic, has worked in English football and is an excellent communicator in English (let’s be honest his English is probably better than most natives). Capello especially and Sven were both poor on the latter iirc.
    It’s so funny to me that we all preach for meritocracy EXCEPT in the case of the NT manager? Also let’s just be honest and call what’s been in the media this week, what it is - XENOPHOBIA. Plain and simple, is it subtle yes, but that it is.

    The rules were proven to be unlawful, unfair and unreasonable.
    The premier league called and then cancelled an emergency meeting
    The premier league said that the amendments needed to the rules would only take 10 days and then quickly completely changed their tune and wrote to the clubs to inform them that the new rules would take some time to get right.
    City can now claim damages and losses from the premier league.
