  • Vogel State Park is one of the oldest in the State of Georgia and one of the most well liked by locals and especially Floridians who flock to this 2,280 foot elevation park to escape the humid summer heat of Florida. It is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the base of Blood Mountain. The park lies in the middle of the Chattahoochee National Forest and is one of the richest botanical areas in Georgia.
    The park covers 233 acres and features 22 acre Lake Trahlyta which was built in the 1930s by the CCC and named after an Indian princess. The lake is available for fishing year round. The park provides 103 tent & RV sites, most with water & electrical hook-ups. There are 4 comfort stations in the campgrounds and 2 dump stations. Kayaks, canoes and paddle boats are available for rent.

      Yes Marcia, it's a beautiful campground and State Park (the oldest in Georgia). We've camped there twice (there are two videos on our channel) :-) If you do want to camp there I'd recommend making reservations, it's a popular place :-) Thanks for watching.

      We stopped by there last week on our way back from the Chattahoochee National Forest where we were camping (videos to follow shortly) to use their dump station and check out the new bath houses and the weather was beautiful. This week we're heading up to the Carter's Lake area and although a bit of rain in the forecast, the temperatures are perfect for camping. The beginning of November is showing high 60s with lows in the mid 50s so still great for camping. Note: We have another more recent video on the channel from another trip to Vogel :-)

      I posted the video at the end of August and I remember meeting people from Florida who were escaping the heat there so I'm guessing it was August of 2015. We camped there again with a fellow truck camper in November of 2017 and it was much the same ......

      Yep.....it was there in the early and mid 50's when I was there. I went to a YMCA camp every summer not far from there and they brought us over in the back of a big truck to swim and spend the day some times. I grew up just north of Atlanta.

    Any suggestions on which sites are the best ?

    • @TravelswithYoly
      @TravelswithYoly  8 лет назад +1

      +Jason Harper As you drive down the road through the campground (there's a turn-around at the end) there's a creek on the right hand side. All the sites on that side back up to the creek and you get to hear the natural sound of burbling water throughout the day and evening. The sites on the other side are nice sites but you can't hear the creek.
