Great video! So glad I bought my Zager guitar from a reputable company. I've been following you since 2010, and haven't been disappointed. Love you guys
It worked perfectly! My guitar is now hydrated, the arch is back in my guitar top, and my string buzz went away. Thank you so much! Here is a tip for everyone: Use a new lint-free towel like Dennis does and not an old dingy one or your guitar will smell like funk for a few days. Guess how I know...

You guy's are so honest, the valuable information you offer for free and your no frill guitars, it just adds so much more thrill to the low budget guitar player, I am forever grateful to you and your dad. P.S. I'm so impressed with your humidity technique, it will become my new method come Winter of 2022 with Wisconsin's terribly DRY Season.
This guy knows exactly what he's talking about. I just followed his directions on the home made humidifier and left it inside my guitar for a week instead of 3 days-no more fret buzz! Thank you for paying your knowledge forward.

Dennis, I am the guy who has been emailing you about my 2005 EZ Play Sigma Martin you dad made over 16 years ago. I really appreciate Zagar Guitar Company and love my EZ Play Sigma. I am glad you made this video although I do not have a buzz I realize NOW how important humidity is to my guitar. I will purchase a humidifier today. P.S. Realizing your dad wrote the song 2525 a song from when I was a young guy I think is amazing! I love the fact your dad autographed my guitar and the date he built it. Tell him THANK YOU! IT WORKED!!! I was so discouraged when my Martin's strings were buzzing on the high frets and no amount of truss rod adjusting did anything. I was ready to replace the body bridge. But not now!! Thank you so much!!
I just bought a Z guitar recently. It was relatively new. Sounded amazing when i first got it. My high E started buzzing. Found this video and guess what? This moisture adding trick worked! Thanks for this video!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you! I had a terrible buzz on one string. Went right to the humidity solution for 72 hours. My guitar sounds amazing . buzz is gone. Thank you so much !!!!
Fantastic video buddy! I appreciate the time you take to make your videos. Very helpful and now I'm thinking about Zager guitars! Never heard of them before, but your videos got me looking and wanting! Thanks again!
Finally an amazing explanation of guitar problems. This could fix those cheap, and when i say cheap i mean cheap. Guitars they almost always buzz because they are kept in a warehouse until shipped and the bow is almost always gone thank you for making this amazing video
Very good training video methinks. I especially like the part at 10:00 on the video where you demonstrate how important it is to have your acoustic guitars properly humidified. Thanks for shairng your guitar knowledge and expertise. That helps many people. Personally I own three acoustics... varying in value from about $1,000 to $3,000. From personal experience with dry Alberta, Canada affecting my guitars and changing their shape, and so the dry air causing guitar structure issues, I just bought three humidification systems. Now at this point forward I am going to keep my three guitars in the cases with Humidification Systems inside each guitar case.
im glad you explained the bow in the guitar, first time I heard that. Makes complete sense. Although you may not want the truss rod extremely tight or loose for that matter
Thanks for the video . Lots of helpful info. I was having problems with my old acoustic after leaving in storage for 2 years . I tried the rag trick , and it actually worked !
Thank you. I had a fret buzz at 13th & 14th fret. It was gone after your hydration fix. I put it in a garbage bag then its case. 72 hours later no fret buzz. The arch came back at the bridge & it's playing beautifully. Fighting that fret buzz for 2 months. Thanks again!
Thank-you Dennis. This was so helpful in the understanding of the properties of wood in guitars. Having the humidity indicator in the guitar case of my Zad80ce also makes it a snap to maintain the proper humidity for my guitar.
Thank you! I was worried about my guitar dehydrating, and didn't even realize that the slight buzzing I started getting was likely related to hydration.
thank you for the tutorial sir now my guitar is not buzzing again thank you so much... now because of you help im subscribing you because i want to learn more about the guitar.... thanks again

Excellent video. had the guitar only a week but it was buzzing more than the first day. Today I noticed my top WAS concave, and then I saw this. Gonna humidify that sucker asap. Thanks in advance for what I really think will be the solution
Man I've changed three sets of strings because of the buzz. If this works my technician is going to be teethless. I just put the cloth and bag in now the waiting game starts UPDATE: DUDE YOU ARE A SUPERSTAR!!! my guitar sounds much better. Nice crisp sound and not tinny. Slight vibration every now and again but way better than before. I guess that will get fixed in time and when the strings are played in. Thank you so much. You have earned my respect!!
Thanks for this, I have a guitar that sounded great when I bought it about 5 years ago but after least than a year it developed fret buzz and I eventually gave up on it and went back to my old guitar because new strings and a truss rod adjustment did nothing for it. I live in a very hot area and after watching this I'm convinced it was a humidity issue and I'm going to see if I can that old guitar back in playing condition
I live in Virginia and the humidity is high here during most of the year and right around 42-55% during the winter months. What do you do for high humidity?
What's the best advice for keeping the guitar at the proper humidity? Does a closed guitar case with a dessicant package address the risk? Thanks in advance. PS: I assume the issue is low humidity primarily, since the solution is to rehydrate. I live one mile from the ocean, and it's cool and relatively moist air for the most part. Does that mean my guitars are at low risk of this problem? TIA!
Good tips...you can tie a string on the bag to remove it easier. I use large medicine bottles and poke holes in it and insert a sponge. Then poke a hole in the lid and put a string through and tie a knot. So the bottle can be removed easy :)
I realize this is an old vid, but hopefully someone can say how often we need to humidify the guitar? I was just about ready to get all spendy for a room humidifier until I saw this killer vid. I would think you would want to keep up with a good level of humidity inside the wood but how do you know if it is too little or too much? I would assume you don't want to let it get dry and humidify over and over.
Good ideas, well presented . I would be a little cautious about excessive truss rod adjustments. Best to go one 10-2 turn and then allow guitar neck to settle in after playing it a few hours.Do again if needed. I leave my guitars out of their cases and have a whole house humidifier ( which can keep about 40 % humidity), but I also use Oasis humidifiers in each sound hole 'threaded" through a plastic disk covering the sound hole which adds extra protection.
I changed strings; then loosened the truss rod, and it dramatically reduced the buzz! There is still a buzz over the area where the neck joins the body, but I will humidify my guitar and I'll try again. Is the truss rod effect immediate, or should I wait 1 or 2 days? . This video is great!
What if it will dry again? Should I put again a wet towel? I'd tried it for several time but after a couple of days my guitar starting to buzz again. So If I still continue this procedure could my guitar will get more damage of this?

When it came in, I noticed a small buzz coming out of tuner window not being fixed properly. After removing saddle spacers to get the action right, get open string buzzing on E (horrible intermittent buzz) and G intermittent resonance. New strings (twice) and fret clearances and truss rod are fine, I guess Ive got to put the original spacers back under the saddle, but the action on 12th fret is already what Id say was a tad high E=3.5mm e=3mm. Rocker doesnt show any fret anomalies. Does this sound familiar? Thanks kindly, Al from New Zealand.
My granddaughter has a small concert size ukulele that has one string that always buzzes when playing it open string. Any idea what would cause that? Thanks
This is caused by dryness but is very easy to adjust. Take the guitar and place it standing up on a wall facing you. Take 5 soaking wet washcloths, wring them out and drop them into the bottom of the guitar and cover the sound hole with a piece of saran wrap. If you need a plug I can send you one but it's important to seal the moisture in. Let the guitar sit standing up and you should be good as new in 72 hours with no buzzing. If not, repeat adding more water. When woods get dry the face lowers 1 millimeter which throws off the geometry of the entire guitar causing buzzing, poor sound, multiple issues. This is true for all quality solid wood guitars made by all manufacturers but happens more frequently on higher level instruments with thinner hand scalloped bracing which give you that deeper sound and easier playability. This method of sealing moisture inside the body raising humidity to 90% puts the face back into its original position. My video below explains the steps my dad uses in the shop on buzzing strings but hydrating the woods (dropping 5 wet towels in the body) is now what he does first before any adjustment because in 99% of cases it's all that's required. This technique my grandfather created has been used over 75 years now by millions of players on all brands with a very high success rate (about 100%). Once the process is complete be sure to maintain humidity over 55% (we keep our shop at 65%) using a humidifier and you should have no other problems. zagerguitar.com/guitars/humidification-system/ If you question how well this system works read the comments of the hundreds of thousands of players who have used it in this video. ruclips.net/video/1UIvs2q3u6w/видео.html
