John Haack was doing promotion for some company, I forgot. They were showing his lifts, and there was this guy in the comments saying how his technique was bad and calling him weak. In a non troll way. I just don’t understand people.
Would someone mind explaining the difference, performance wise, between a high and low bar squat? I always thought it was a comfort thing, as opposed to a performance related thing. Thanks
@@reddragon1572 Low bar reduces the "moment arm" (horizontal distance between the weight and the joint acting on it, in this case the hips), which puts less demand on the back to support the weight, while also very slightly reducing range of motion (since the bar starts lower).
Some people get bicep tendinitis and elbow pain from low bar positions. Can cause flare ups when benching. It can be a more synergistic comp strategy when youre such a big bencher as john to avoid the pain. Lind of like how gavin adin pulls a bigger total with a conventional pull, not because his conventional is bigger than his sumo but because his squat interferes with his sumo but not so much with his conventional so on comp day he gets the bigger total going conventional. @somethingsomewhere.2613
I've always stacked my wrists over my elbows. I've never heard that piece of informationuntil this video. I have always come in close because it feels tighter. Is an ideal position generally further outside the elbows?
John hack is maybe the strongest horse iv ever seen in the stable neyyyy
Bro’s form is immaculate while making insane weight look like fucking feathers
Agreed. John is an absolute unit and his high bar squatting puts good morning squatters to shame.
Nothing I can do about it lol some people’s anatomy doesn’t allow high bar to not fold over
Most people’s leverages do they just don’t want to
Squat is his weakest lift pound for pound
Rippetoe seething

I don't think that's possible to say in a non troll way. Some people just have poor comprehension skills
You got trolled my guy
@@ianpier16 Yeah you just have to look at the numbers. John is the strongest guy around pound for pound. Must have been a troll.
Doing 400kg without straps is crazy strong
Wouldn't be surprised if his choice to do high bar helps his bench not get fucked up due to the tricep death that comes with low bar bar positioning.
I think he said he tried low bar and fucks with his shoulders which obviously kills your bench

What could he deadlift if he pullee an eddie hall and put on as much weight as possible
Just to be clear so what position should the wrist or hand have on a high bar squat than????
Just In line with your spine.
whatever feels best/strongest/smoothest to you.

It's hard for me to watch him squat because it looks like he is going to pop his knee anytime.
How tf is he stable throught his heavy squats, his core is crazy crazy.
How low do you have to go to make it count. I notice he only goes halfway.
Crease of the hip below the top of the knee joint in powerlifting, which is what John competes in.
I don’t know why this guy never competed in stringman
he has
This may look like a high bar squat but he still has it at that shoulder and trap line like everyone else. Still insanely impressive
It's definitely a high bar squat
You can clearly see the gap between the bar and his delts. The bar is definitely on his upper traps.
Has he ever done any weightlifting? I wonder how he would fare.
He's got a decent power/muscle clean. But he would almost certainly have trouble getting into position for the full lifts.
Pretty sure I've seen him power clean 140 or so. Kind of muscle clean.

Saying John is the greatest power athlete in the world is like saying the sun is hot and the grass is green
"ridonkulous", ain't that copyrighted by Gregg...? (who also has a killer deadlift record) shout out to the algo for the info...
Who tf is that? Doucette? Lol who cares. It's a word
Bela Lugosi used the word on the popular Abbott and Costello show in 1948
Snap city coming 😅
