no band exemplifies what the early 90s alternative music movement was about. nirvana was the poster band but smashing pumpkins, from 88 to 95 absolutely stole the show in terms of actual musical output. they had such a lovely sound in those days. youthful blissed-out psychedelic dreamy heaviness. i was always a bit sad when billy decided to become a vampire. :/ the early days of the band are without a doubt what inspired me to write my own music. SP were always a band loved by other musicians..
Ya. I like Melon Collie, I mean you kind of have to, but it doesn't even compare to Gish. It was so chaotic and beautiful at the same time. They had a look that was somewhat out of this world. A dude with long, red hair, a bleach blonde chick bassist, a somewhat normal drummer, and a second guitarist who was "asian". All in psychedelic garb. That didn't fit in the time, and neither did they. So epic.
Starla is from "Pisces Escariot" , Drown is on the "Singles" movie Soundtrack...which also worth a watch as its got a cameo from Alice in chains plying in a bar in Seattle. ;)
wooooooww excelente dios de donde habra salido este video esto es para llorar y recordar esos tiempo cuando eras un chico y escuchabas a esta hermosa y amorosa banda de Rock y amor viva los pumpkins de todos los tiempos Love SP (Joseph)
This song came out before Siamese Dream. This had to have been before he even released it for the "Singles" soundtrack, or even before Fruit Bad Salad, because he doesn't have lyrics written for the end yet.
It depends what you call "rare". This song never came out on any of their normal albums. It was included in the soundtrack of a movie called "Singles", and much later on a Greatest Hits album. So in the day, if you liked this song and wanted a copy, you had to buy a soundtrack album with a bunch of non-SP stuff on it, or wait until your local alternative station happened to play it. I remember.
oh he dont sing the best part just before the solo.. :( when he say IS IT SOMETHING SOME ONE SAID, WAS IT SOMETHING SOME ONE SAIDD ''WEE DEE DEE DEE DILIDIDI DO DEEE IDIDIDI'' (that was the solo sound)

I miss the days when the Pumpkins sounded like this... before they went Goth Metal.
