  • You may find the process a bit tricky for re-adding Arlec GRiD Connect devices to new WiFi networks or WiFi networks with a new SSID.
If the default automatic process fails for you, try this:
Ensure your phone has connected to the wifi network you want your Arlec device to connect to.
In the GRiD Connect app select add new device, choose the device you have (a power point in my case)
Tap EZ Mode in the top right and choose AP Mode from the menu which appears.
    ---
On your device hold the power button until it blinks rapidly (about 5 - 7 seconds).
Hold it again for the same time until the light turns off.
Hold it again until it blinks slowly (1-3 seconds).
    ---
On the app, tap connect and your wifi menu will open.
Select the wifi network labelled GRiD. Keep your phone near your device.
Once connected (there will be no internet access) tap back to return to the GRiD Connect app.
The app will now connect to your device and link it up with your new WiFi network.

Thanks. All done. Shame they don't make it simpler... for people who have 20+ devices is a bit of a chore

Thank you! Straightforward video! Just a headsup for anyone - be a little patient when it's trying to find the device (heater in my case).

Thank you - worked perfectly. Not sure why they would make it so difficult to change.

I once spoke to a Grid Connect helpdesk and they explained how to get into this mode. I forgot and found your video to connect an older power board…problem is everytime I follow the instructions and get to the GO CONNECT button the power board immediately stops the slow blink and just sits there while the app searches and searches and it amounts to nothing. Any other advice …by the way a good video that’s Grid Connect shouldv’e put out there

I have grid connect light globes (6). They worked well. Down the track I had to remove 1 globe as it was not turning on. I replaced that one with a spare one of that kind from another spot which was replaced by a fan. I can't get this globe to connect to the grid. It is in the same room as the router. 2.4ghz. Very annoying. Any ideas?

I want to change power point WiFi from my main WiFi (weak signal) to my stronger local WiFi extender network WITHOUT loosing it in all my (extensive) scenes and automations. Any way of doing this? 🤔

Hey, sorry for the slow reply! I'm no idea but any way of setting your extender network as an access point so that the networks are one and the same? Might be able to select AP mode on your extender router.

      @@DarrenPauli Thanks for replying . . .
I'll look to see if it's possible for me BUT, it is VERY annoying that there's no easy way of changing a device's network (or adding a new device to replace a failed device) without 'losing' it in ALL your automations etc!
I'll add this to my GROWING list of Grid Connect App 'bug' reports and 'enhancement' requests to pass onto Arlec.
However, it is amazing how much you can do with the APP and how involved it can be.
On that note, do you know of a forum or the like that covers Grid Connect bugs, workarounds, tips and tricks and enhancement requests etc?
      PS:
I followed your AP Mode instructions and it worked perfectly. Many thanks!
I just had to laboriously work through ALL my Scenes And Automations; removing the 'old' device and adding the 'new' etc.

@@Green_House hey! I haven't seen any, I just bashed away until I found this method and shot it to help others. But Arlec is a white label of the Chinese brand Tuya. Most Bunnings stuff is, unless it's top end, from cameras to these and everything else. Tuya puts on an Arlec skin but all the software, updates, cloud and the rest is actually them. You could even change Arlec to another company that also uses Tuya if you knew how to mess with firmware. Anyway, that's off topic but there may be a Tuya forum or support.

And yeah agree it's super annoying. All of mine are flashing now because I had to change the wifi password. Pain in the proverbial isn't it!

@@DarrenPauli Many thanks again. Your video is the best of its type I've seen so far. Very helpful and clear!
You won't believe this, but I spent another $20 on a 'spare' smart plug to practise on.
I have spent an unbelievable number of hours in 'programming' my setup, and I didn't want to muck anything up.
It was a VERY good investment, because it allowed me to test your instructions and try all sorts of other things AND it will come in handy for something else in the future I'm sure. 🙂 I've learnt a lot!
(Can you have too many smart plugs? 🤔)
Thanks again and all the best.
