@@MrSujano while it is possible that Artemis could be fake, is not true that because emulation on PS2 for Android is struggling there couldnt be a perfectly working PS3 emulator for Android, just look at what happened to emulation on Sega Saturn.
Artemis is just a hacked PS3 with a custom home screen running remote play through a app on a android phone it's not that difficult to understand what is going on.

AetherSX2 runs well on my device for a few of my all time favourite games, Legend of Kay I always have above 50fps but usually 60fpsand runs extremely well. Enter The Matrix also runs flawlessly which is so epic. I have a few games tested and some more that do and don't work, for example Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy works awfully I can't even get 10fps after the cutscenes, but the game is super heavy and the entire open world is active during the first instance of gameplay. And the world is surprisingly huge for an old PS2 game, although a few of the levels are a bit linear the game is still really impressive to me and looks beautiful

Phones are just now begin to enter ps3 LVL of performance (the high end at least ) which has the GPU equivalent of gtx 7800(more than a decade old GPU), all those ps3 gameplay with no stutters?? Even SD888 can't max out the setting in ppsspp demanding games (eg. Ghost of Sparta/Chains of Olympus) , yea so I'm just not buying this Artemis guy

Cause the newest gpu for android has 3,12 tflops, which is almost twice as ps4, and more than 10 times ps3.
If PS3 emulation could be a thing, then there needs to be a new recompiller or a code that will emulate necessary things.

All of your arguments are valid, save for the "Even my PIXEL 5 cannot emulate PS2 properly." part.
AetherSX2 specifically needs 845+ for good performance, so doesn't matter if your phone is from last year or hell, even yesterday. It doesn't meet the criteria, so that point wasn't necessary.
As for everything else you've said, I 100% agree.
Pretty sure you need at least 845 to have full compatibility for all PS2 games so they run at full speed at native resolution without any tweaking save for if the game needs a specific renderer.
I have a Snapdragon 665 yet I can run so many 3d games, heck I can even run the GTA Trilogy at full speed at 2x resolution.
@@thegamerfe8751 My point isn't whether a SD665 runs it or any weaker device runs it or not, because I know that weaker phones can handle a lot of games too. My point is there is no use saying "it can't handle it properly" when the device is below the requirements, which is what Mr. Sujano did in this video. Not saying he did bad or anything (I love this man he is awesome), but in the context of the topic he was handling, it was something that wasn't necessary.

@@thegamerfe8751 Yeap, he said even his Pixel 5 cannot handle PS2, and even though it maybe from last year, it has an SD765, way lower than what is needed to be proper. I'd go as far as to say some phones can run PS2 better than computers, which is true in my case as well. But everything else he mentioned is fine, that emulator is 100% fake.
Thanks for the comment! I agree the point wasn't really necessary, but there are a lot of people out there who don't know what CPU is in their phones. I felt like including that as a high level reference point that most phones probably won't be able to handle PS3.

Video from AetherSX2 was being called fake also when it first came out and many people were saying quality PS2 emulation on Android was years away. People were also saying AetherSX2's UI was just a screen shot of DuckStation's UI. So I have my fingers crossed this is somehow real.
Too good to be true considering how insanely complex the Cell architecture is to program for, let alone emulate. Advances in mobile tech may have blessed us with phones that are able to run 360/PS3-level graphics but we're still long ways off from getting a PS3 emulator for Android.

I get your point, but the PS2 emulation is a bad example, because it has proven to be a very difficult platform to emulate. You need overkill hardware in excess to emulate PS2, in fact, because of this it's very impressive what AetherSX2 has achieved. Having said that, I think it's unlikely to see even a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 running the most basic PS3 games at playable speeds. But I'd LOVE to be wrong about this. Just remember RPCS3 is open source, so an ARM/Android port would be difficult, but not impossible. Even as a proof of concept, it would still be impressive to see PS3 running at 2-3 fps on a cellphone.

Well, i think it doesn't take a techy mind to understand that PS3 emulation on a mobile chip is not happening any sooner, i mean just look at PS3 emulation on PC (On a desktop chip), its still not there yet, so imaging something like that on an arm chip, its just too soon for that.
@@anumine207 lol, that's what i meant by "its not yet there", if you look at theirs compatibility section you can see that few games only are playable most of them have either bugs or low performance..., Even though looking at how far desktop technology has come, emulation is still left behind because of lacking in software development

@@user-nl4jm2cw1r Actually no ! Every playstation 3 game is playable on Rpcs3 if you want to know, but playable is a stretch, a game that was made in 2011 with 2011 graphics would require you a beefy nowdays hardware just to get 60 fps on a computer, i wouldn't call that playable

@@user-nl4jm2cw1r We know that, what i mean is the development on ps3 emulation is still in its early stages for desktop chips, so we are not going to see it on mobile chips anytime soon that is certain, just look at ps2, the emulation is very good on desktop with low minimum hardware and amazing performance ever since a few years ago, and they only just recently made a good mobile emulation app, so we can still wait for long before we see ps3 on mobile
If it's running that well based on the video, why not release a beta so we can test it on our phones. It's fake till we get to test it.

That's what I've been saying in his videos. It's not a hard concept to grasp, the fact he's not releasing this for people to test it is obviously fake. I wish people would get off Mr. Sujano's discord posting videos of this fake emulator

It's possible if devs are ready to rebuild the rendering pipeline of their apps to tiled rendering.
That's the only way I see emulators on Android moving forward.

Completely fake. Even Aethersx2, the PS2 emulator needs a beefy phone to run. There is no way a PS3 emulator will work on Android in the near future.
Hardly say beefy phones. It works on sd845. You can get a phone with sd845 for cheap these days.

What kind of device do you use for emulation? I'm using a outdated Galaxy S10E and AetherSX2 runs any game you throw at it flawlessly. Now Damon's ps2 emulator is trash, even the paid version.

I think.. maybe ps3 emulator is possible, because emulator Nintendo switch already exists for Android.. and the performance of Nintendo switch almost close to PS3.. so maybe in a few years, the PS3 emulator will exists and playable for Android device.

Switch emulation on android is fairly simple because the Tegra chipset used in the switch was also used in multiple android devices, so very little emulation of actual hardware has to take place.

I don't think the is because the phone lacks power it is due to less to no optimization of the emulators for Android
As you know people are able to port pc games which run at 60fps Citra runs great with upscaling
Wii and GameCube run at high speed
Once there is optimization of PS2 and probably PS3 it will run fine

It's rather obvious to us more Emulation-savvy folk to quickly dismiss this emulator by the mere fact that the dev is trying to sell us a lie that is PS3 games running at full speed without glitches in resolutions above something like 128:72
However while I don't mean to be condescending towards people who aren't as emulation-savvy, I think it's easier to convince them what they're seeing is in fact, a legitimate working product.
But then I imagine, what if the dev is trying to pull off the grandest troll in Emulation history? I could certainly get behind that.
People really underestimated CELL and RSX on PS3. It needs processor with lots of cores. That's how demanding ps3 emulation are

Which Android emulator is your favourite
I have been using the paid version of Damon ps2 since early 2018 when the galaxy s9 plus first came out and it's always performed in a perfectly playable way...ps2 emulation is nothing new for android... idk why many seem to think it is
I mean pixel 5 isn't a good example here tho, even mid rangers or even budget phones have a much more powerful processers than it does, i wouldn't say android phones aren't strong enough either, it's just about porting rpcx3 to android well enough
Still tho if it ever get ported i wouldn't be surprised if only 865 and higher can play it
Low resolution versions should work on a Snap dragon 888 with at least 12 gigs of ram.
I believe it's real but if they start playing games that don't even run well on PC then it's sus.
If I have to buy a 2000 dollar phone just so it can run and emulate ps3 games I might as well just use the money to buy a Ps5 instead and just wait until technology, price and specs on the phone side to become more ready and affordable. In the meantime I have no problem playing games like pong all the way up to the ps2 and gamecube era. There is already alot of games to that point already.
I agree. GameCube and Dreamcast have already surpassed PlayStation 2 for me for favorites. So many games already. I don't even bother with AetherSX2 any more. PS2 games are so large. PS3 is even larger.
I bought a backwards compatible PS3 a year ago so it can play PS3, PS2 and PS1 discs and it was great. Only £100.

That's not how it works. The architecture is different, the coding is different, ps3 is more powerful, therefore much more demanding. No phone can run GTA 5 or Crysis 3 or even fking Crysis 1 on even 20fps. Sorry to ruin the fun but not happening anytime soon. Maybe in the future.

Nah, the Cell is even more complex. It's way harder to emulate. I have a high end system, I can't even run Uncharted at a decent framerate without disabling dynamic shadows.
The PS3 Architecture with its PPU and SPU was seen as pretty much impossible to emulate, only with lots of time, work and help, the Team at RPCS3 got it to kinda run well sometimes, so without a wonder, this will take a while.
It is important to note that we do have the code for emulating a PS3 now, so we just gotta wait until hardware evolves and someone translates the emulator for Android

It's the other way round
While the ATI RSX GPU was Fodder compared to the PS2's Graphics synthesizer, topping at 200+ GFLOPS, The RSX Actually remained Dormant throughout most gaming sections as the Cell's SPUs were that which handled both the Graphics and the Smoothness of the games at the same time, and i am pretty sure the Cell Fodderizes both the RSX and The Synthesizer GPU, since Even modern PCs find difficulty in emulating some of the most heavy at Even basic 720P Resolution, there's Little to no chance, besides the fact that phones use a completely different architecture that might make It easier to emulate PS3 on them, that could make This Emulator True at all.

I think eventually we'll be able to get PS3 games running on mobile. But as of now, no, no way. Maybe if we get blessed with a VERY VERY Powerful processor but I don't see that happening for... Years... At least... 7... Maybe even 12... The closes we're getting to being able to get PS3 games on the go, is if the Steam Deck can handle it
PS2 just recently got a proper emulator on android. We should be more grateful.

Because the ps3 have difficult architecture the emulator even on PC have much higher system requirements, than x360 emulator.

it took ps2 emulator more than 12 years to get it kicking, maybe another 12 years for ps3
I've had no problem with PS2 emulation on my galaxy tab 7 SE but the problem I run into is interlacing. Do any android PS2 emulators handle the PS2 titles that had interlacing, like armored core 3? Because no PS2 emulator I know of has deinterlacing.

When smartphones will advance into extremely powerful,then they possibly to emulate seventh-generation on Android. I think they will possibly be in 2050 or 2100.

I have seen NSwitch games run really well with SD888. From that context, PS3 Emulation may work with SD888 or SD 8 GEN-1 devices.
The switch hardware is way less powerful than a PS3. Also it has an easier architecture. That's why Switch emulation advanced really fast

These people are not even using exegear cause:
First: Gta iv on it runs literally with 1 fps
Second: they're using windows for arm dual boot.

Xemu developers has stated they will start working to port their emulator to android until Xemu reaches acceptable performance.

A PS3 emu would be frickin awesome but I'm pretty sure my phone would melt in my hands lol. I can play soul reaver 2 and blood omen with zero issues on my S9+ so I'm perfectly content.
Someday it'll hopefully be possible to boot up ps3 games on a mobile phone, but they definitely won't be running at a playable speed

It is also possible to install and run Android on a PC. Then it would have enough power to emulate PS3. I don't think PS3 games would be good on a phone. When I play whose types of games I want them on a big TV screen. It is not the same experience fiddling around with a little phone.
Yeah, but it'd be cool to be able to connect your phone to a portable monitor and PS3 controller and play that way. Or even mods that let us scale the hud to whatever we want. I hope that with what Apple's done with the M1 Ultra chip that this'll be possible sooner than later.
