What a fantastic idea. I'm going to go with your idea. This is perfect for what I need and want to do. Thanks so much for sharing. I'll do this first thing next spring. BTW I also have a generator shed that looks pretty much exactly as yours.
You did a great job on shed and video. Well done and thank you for the update and insight. And yes you did help!!!!!!!!! We are in the heat of SCarolina so will add that fan as well
This is very cool. Great work on this! Ive always wanted to construct something like this, so cool that you went and did it! Enjoy your new setup, youve been capturing some great data and images lately.
Thanks for sharing this. Fantastic job. I just moved house and I hope to build a roll off roof shed too at some point. This video will be a big help. Keep up the great work DeeJay. Looking forward to more of your astrophotos.
Astro Bro thank you for sharing …..you gave me the testicular fortitude to go ahead with this project that’s been haunting me for a year plus …. Picked up a used slide shed for 1/2 off on C List …. Was goin to put a Todd Mordian pier ( concrete blocks joined together by gorilla glue ) ASI air controlled is def the way to go. Thank u again Big Bro …Sending clear skies from Rockland NY
Great ideas here. I'm looking to build something similar but possibly smaller with hinged roof. I was thinking of maybe modifying a large dog kennel. Thanks for sharing!
We sprayed outdoor gray spray paint to keep the roof cooler. It’s showing a bit of wear at two years but I’ll respray it. What solar and fans did u pick up??? Again great job. Going to start our mods this weekend
Cool thanks for that tip for the paint. The solar fans are from Amazon and I got the dual solar ones. If you search for solar exhaust fans they should show up on there.
Awesome Observatory review. Thanks and I shared it with my astronomy group. Interested in what you did with the generator box. Do you have an overview on that?
I did a video but never released it to be public on RUclips because I know many will talk negatively about it or something dealing with running it safety in a box enclosure even though it’s fan cooled & thermostat controlled if the fan ever fails to shut down the generator. Works extremely well. I got the ideas from generator sheds on RUclips & modified it to work for my setup.
Nice job. I'm thinking about doing something similar, only I want to pour a concrete pier. What's the height of your kit from the deck floor to the top of your scope in the home position? How much head room do you have from the top of your scope to the roof of the shed? I really liked the way you did the casters on the aft end. Thanks for the ideas.
Dee Jay once again outstanding job. What screws did you use for the L brackets? Do they go through the roof or just inside? Could you list the part numbers or model number of the hardware you purchased? I just purchased the shed and I want to emulate what you did a closely as possible. Thank you!
The screws I got were basic metal screws that were short so they wouldn’t go all the way through the entire roof. I used small washers to help level the casters when mounted to the roof.
I love the setup and modifications you made. You got me thinking... Have you done any visual with this setup? I understand it is optimal for something automated, but I wasnt sure if you could sit comfortably well to do visuals on those nights you dont want to use a computer. Example: binoviewing to look at the moon. Also, do you have any plans to automate the opening? Maybe for late night automation of targets at 3AM?
For visual it is not a lot of room in the shed which has me thinking of building something a little bit bigger but not for now lol I’ve really thought about some kind of automated roof closing like I see many doing with gate openers. I just haven’t really started on building it in yet. But it would be very helpful at 3am when a session is over & I can continue to sleep & later on in the day or so go retrieve my laptop out there 😁 I wouldn’t have to go outside to slide the roof close at 5am lol
I like the idea of the screws in the rail to stop the roof. I think I’ll try this on mine as safety stops. Thanks for sharing!

What a great, inexpensive design. Congrats on the observatory. Thanks for the tour.
Very nice - thanks for sharing. Got lots of ideas from this.
Thanks!! & I got several messages about how I set everything up so this video should help others as well.

Very impressive. Very small foot print. Those fans sound like they are getting it done!
Brilliant and cost effective. Totally practical.

You should fit little brushes on the roof to keep the runners clean. Some draft excluders with the bristles would be perfect 👍. Great job
That’s a great tip!! I need to do that 😁

@@deejaybustab Thank you..I got the shed and all the items, will begin the build when the temperature goes below 100F....Thanks again!

Is it possible to put foil layer on roof for reflection of heat.
