- Hindustan Aeronautics Limited handed over the first LCA Tejas twin-seater trainer version aircraft to IAF on Oct 04. MoS for Defence Ajay Bhatt, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari were present at the LCA Tejas division plant. This historic event mark the achievement of a key milestone of producing LCA Twin Seater. It is designed with a strategic intent of graduating budding pilots from the Twin Seater variants to fighter Pilots. HAL has an order of 18 twin seater from IAF and is planning to deliver eight twin seater in FY 2023-24. Further, 10 Light Combat Aircraft twin seaters would be delivered progressively by 2026-27. LCA-Tejas is the largest R-D program ever undertaken in India that made its maiden flight in 2001. It is going to be the backbone of the IAF fleet in years to come and is slated to be produced in high numbers. HAL has already received an order for 123 aircraft out of which 32 fighters have been supplied to IAF. This adds India to the list of elite countries that have created such capabilities in their Defence Forces. LCA Tejas is the best platform for India to be a flag bearer to achieve export targets set by the government.

Would've been more pleased to hear the IAF chief instead of the Minister making it look like the trainer has been handed over to the Minister instead of the IAF.
Bcoz minister is responsible for managing the entire defence portfolio. It is not the job of IAF chief ...his role is combat and military strategy ...not administration or procurement.

Is there any possibility of developing our own engine instead of depending on Rolls-Royce, Safran, MTU, GE, Pratt& Whitney etc . Because we should never trust US, UK, Canada,France, Australia and European union.
There were some issues at high altitude with kaveri engine in 2011-12. India already have stable kaveri engine with around 73 kn which will be used in UAV. Issue with high thrust kaveri engine with thrust around 90-98 kn is still not resolved and thus engine is getting imported. It will be a good approach to develop top rated products even with imported technology and then replace imported technology with indigenous technology as indigenous technology catch up with global competators. Delivering subpar products with half baked indigenous technology or getting stuck due to problems with development of one component is of no use.

Woukd like HAL, ADA, DRDO and IAF to reserve this celebration for induction of MWF and deploy Tejas mk1A in joint exercuses abroad and gift this platform to some friendly nation currently engaged in war so that the efficacy of this platform in real war can be asvertised. This celebration is akin to selling your homemade toffee to your own child.
Everything can be sold outside when you complete your homemade requirements first . you can have more of these at home as it will cost you very very less than purchasing from outside

@@direwolf7491quick correction !! Turkey ITSELF too has NOT rolled out the prototypes, atleast AMCA engine deal is done (for Mk1 we will go with F414 and for Mk2 it will be Indigenous engine partnered with Safran)
Turkish KAAN has NOT dealt with its Engine problem, instead it has become even more weird and complex, and they are confused 😂😂😂
So don't give credit to either Pakistan or Turkey, both are bankrupt right now

Turkey is busy showing METALLIC TOY MODELS only, that's it... their "plane" doesn't fly... it's all gimmicky stuff they are doing (in short PR work, marketing, psychological warfare)
In short AMCA ke saath saath hi KAAN aayega, ya shayad ab kyunki engine deal AMCA ki pehle ho gyi hai toh AMCA pehle aayega KAAN se... in short hum Pakistan se phir bhi 10 saal aage hi honge
We will be ahead of Pakistan for 10 years... that's a fact now...
And we are a big airforce, we aren't begging like Pakistan, we are making our own fighter jet
Only 5th gen is NOT enough, having 4th and 4.5th gen is also necessary
So we will have Tejas Mk1/Mk1A as 4.5+ gen, 4.5++ will be Tejas Mk2, Rafale is legit 5- (from F4 version onwards), it's too good, even Sukhois are 4.5+ gen, soon 4.5++ as they will get 5th gen capability
5th gen AMCA is incoming, 5.5th gen AMCA Mk2 will come by 2040, 6th gen ones will come in 2045-55
So we are on track with a PLAN, they don't have a working jet either right now...
How and when did you see them "build" 5th gen aircrafts?
