The F-22 Raptor is a fifth-gen stealth air superiority fighter produced by the US. Originally 750 were to be produced, but budget cuts and political opposition yielded only 187 functional aircraft. It will remain America's top fighter until it is replaced by a fighter from the NGAD program.
