I cut my labs nail too short the other day (only by a little bit it only had a little drop of blood at the end and stopped in seconds!) He didn't even react lol 😂
With black nails if you take little bit at a time until you see a little black dot in the middle of the nail then stop cutting because it's close to the vein . That's how I've always managed it 👍

It’s so relaxing to watch you both with Herky and Milton. My Cavalier Nelson is taking a nap snuggled next to me, otherwise he’d be looking back and forth from the iPad to me with his cute little frowny face ,”I can’t believe you’re looking at another dog, when I’m right here!!” He’s 11 y.o. now and gets a little possessive. You both are great with your Cavaliers. Enjoy your summer😎
I could look at them for hours like I could stare at my baby Cavalier forever. He is not a fan of baths or any water activity. Those two are very good bathing girls 😍
I find that as a dog groomer some dogs are very nervous when coming in with their owners but end up being fine 👍 there's one dog I do and she's lovely but very nervous when owner brings her in every time but as soon as I begin brushing her and bathing her she calms down and enjoys her groom .

You are so lucky to have both girls standing quietly in the tub. I have to bathe my dog in the laundry tub with the straps and suction cups to keep her in place, and still she is fighting to
get out. As for the nails forget it I have to take her to the groomers. A good tip for dogs with
furry paws is to put a mesh onion bag over them and the nail sticks through whilst holding
the fur back so you can see the nail easier (not that I can use that tip lol). Your dogs are gorgeous I love watching them

Good timing! It was my ruby boy Riley’s bath day today. I followed your advice on playing relaxing spa music and holding your cavi on your lap while blow drying. I tried that and it worked a lot better. He was a lot calmer and less trying to get away from the dryer. I almost got his ears dried. A first! Love your channel. Glad you are coming home. Your girls are so cute

How do you do two at once? I have three Cavaliers. Especially my Blenheim would jump out and run away while I was washing the other one. I do the dogs one at a time in the shower.

The girls were so good about their baths. I love how fresh and clean Serafina smells for a few days after her bath. She’s good about having her claws clipped too. Her sister was always a little nervous about it though. I only clipped a little too close to the quick once. There is a product by Four Paws called Quick Blood Stopper Styptic Powder available at Petco for use when that happens. I’ve also heard that you can use a little dry cornstarch in a pinch if you don’t have a styptic stick available. Of course I’d check with a vet before using it. Thanks for the video. ❤️🐶🐾

Cavaliers are so sweet I love mine! He’s literally the sweetest dog I’ve ever had! But he HATES the groomers like no other he cries so much when he goes but when I bathe him at home not a peep and he’s really good in the bath, now I’m trying to learn how to cut his fur

Lavender is a good choice! ❤️ It’s a natural flea wash, but also calms the skin. People used it in the day before all the flea protection products.

Just bathed my baby doggie yesterday. Did the same thing u guys did. To make things eaier and wont cause backaches, i just jump in the shower with them. But ur right, having one dog is much eaiser.
Oh yeah I am usually in the bath with them but I did not feel like doing this video in a bathing suit lol

p.s. using the nozzle attachments for a hair dryer will be more efficient bc it’s directed airflow. I’m sure they hate the blow dryer (like my dogs lol) so having the nozzle helps to dry them quicker and keeps air from blowing everywhere rather than just in one specific spot (less chaotic for them). ♥️

I have a question about using fragrant shampoos. My dogs always seemed to want to roll in grass or whatever directly after getting out of the bath. It seemed like they were trying to get the smell off of them. I wonder if the smell that we find pleasing is just overwhelming for them. Their noses are like 5000x more powerful than ours. What are your thoughts on the matter?

I am sooo jealous that Herky & Milton allow the hair dryer. My Cavi absolutely hates it & tries to attack it. Even the groomer couldn't get her dry. She attacked their drier too. So every bath she has to be towel and air dried. Ugh. Love your videos ♥️

Dry cornstarch is great, if you hit the quick of your fur babies nails. It will clot the bleeding. You guys Cavs are gorgeous!!!

Nice video! You guys should use styptic powder when the nail bleeds that way you know for sure the bleeding stops and it does not get infected.

Herky The Cavalier, there are even styptic powders or gels that contain anesthetic. I've found some at chain pet stores, and they work great.

is it okay to use main and tail on my cavalier
I'm currently studying a course in Animal Care and we are told to never wash the dogs heads as it is too risky. Putting shampoo on their heads means you obviously have to wash it off with water. If you didn't know this, if water goes down a dog's nose they can choke and saddly die. I personally wouldn't do it but it's really you're own decision
You have to watch Cavi’s faces or the fur will get matted and tangled a tip is to just make sure that you do not get any water near the eyes or nose - coming from a Cavi owner

My English toy spaniel fights to get out of the bath and for the tear stains we just use some water we also you a baby soap just so it’s gentle

i used the tropiclean lavish pet products when i was a bather and it is absolutely amazing with very few ingredients as of recently i couldn’t find it at my local grooming supply store apparently they stopped carrying it and with my grooming training put on hold to focus on my mental health i haven’t gotten around to buying the products to use on my mom’s and sister’s dogs at home since my trainer wouldn’t let me take the ones i had already with me during shutdown even though i paid for them

Great video it's good to really see how things are done. I never had a dog but we are thinking of getting a dog since My daughter needs a companion. Were either getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or a Maltese shi tzu so were trying to compare the two and wich would be the best for us. Your pooches are adorable. 💘

You know before bath, I always put cottons inside my pup's ears inorder for ear infection.
We each have our methods I guess. I use an ear cleaner after the bath. Herky is almost 6 years old and Milton almost 4 and they both never had ear infections!

i wish i had a white doggo but i have a giant rhodesian ridgeback that has discoid lupus hes a redish brown and my black chihauhua pitbull mix with a lil white chest so bath time is easier because they arent white and they have short hair but i want a white long haired doggo so bad so i can braid them and use doggy chalk pens to color them

How come you don’t use a conditioner after the shampoo
Do you cut their eye whiskers? Will it hurt to cut them? My little cav has such long whiskers over his eyes.
When you cut too short, use flour to make it stop bleeding.
