very refreshing actually, most reviewers only have good things to say about games and feel afraid to give negative scores. I like how open Tom is about his criticism to bad games
One of the game creators here, I won't say exactly what the card said since the reviewer wants to censor on their channel. The romance edition (my personal favorite) is less like a Victorian hand holding romance, it leans more to the kind of romance that would be a scrambled channel on late night television. It's also great to borrow a few cards from this edition to add spicy wild cards to the other more pg editions!
I played Words of Feather at 4 player and really enjoyed it. I'd say at least 3/4 of the rounds had 1 of us not getting the word correct so I really think it's not as easy as Tom makes it out to be or maybe he is just really good at this style of game after years of practice. Also, I really like the production for what it is. It's not a game to knock peoples socks off but I would say it's a nice change of pace to a night you would play Dixit, Stella, or Codenames. I'd give it a 7/10 with room to go higher.
I get a weird enjoyment out of "anticipated" games just crashing when released. I've seen more than one reviewer be excited for On the Road and now it's rocking a 5.5 on BGG. Between this and games not coming out when they're supposed to, I've just stopped watching all Most Anticipated Games lists. "Here's the games I had on my Most Anticipated Games of 2023 list: 4 didn't come out. 2 sucked. I haven't gotten to play 1 yet. So I've played 3 games and you all have only been able to play 1 because the other 2 have been sold out since they were released!!"
One of our friends has both Canvas games and has them hanging on his wall XD Between the theme and the art on the box though, you're right, it works well. He's had guests who asked who the artist is, which usually leads us into playing.
1 is a game that doesnt function/is broken in some way, and I assume the components (at least the art/tiles) bumped it from a 2 to a 3, its not like if it was rated as a 2 you would be less likely to buy it anyway :P
You're right, Words of a Feather needs a hook. Then you can hang up the box on the wall.
I could watch Tom review bad games all day, hilarious.

On the Road truly is awful. Tried it at Essen. Never again. One of the very few games I rate a 1 😆
What was in that romance one that required censoring?
I think it was **********.
Definitely a ************

Acurrate
Thanks for the video
Listening to you describe how On The Road plays made it sounds truly dreadful, so no surprise it isn't exactly well-regarded!

Flounder
Mind-numbing, I hated it, awful, terrible...
3 out of 10?
I'm trying to figure out how it got that high.

@IJJusion Fair. I'm just less forgiving in my ratings I guess.
