@@Green_Heart_Family_Farm I bet! We've been looking at building a yurt on our property in the high mountains of Colorado for a while now. We've been working on the logistics of being able to keep it clean living in the mountains. And I think this would be the perfect solution for us too!
Ah hh I see what it is I was confused about in the sit down video. I thought you guys changed your door but I see now it's a hutch with the double doors. You guys are so blessed to have family that know all those trades and are able to help you! Awesome!
i know Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost my password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Blake Leonardo I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Beautiful home, really looks cozy. The one thing that concerns me is there's no window (that I can see) for the children or any kind of escape route, should one be needed. Also saw the video on putting in the wood stove, again very very nice. And you have a Newfie!! Aren't they the best dogs EVER? I've had 5 so far and have no interest in any other breed
Thank you! Yes, I wish everyone had access to yurts. We are so happy with the combination of the comfortable shelter it provides and the cost compared to a normal house.
Hi Catherine, welcome and thanks for the question. This video shows the closest detail: ruclips.net/video/NeC44N4JhMQ/видео.html The only permanent physical connection is between the two foundations and a connection of roofing material to keep the connection dry. Otherwise we built the wall of the utility room right up to the side of the yurt, but didn't physically connect them.
@@Green_Heart_Family_Farm that's what I was thinking you might have done. Thank you for the quick reply and the link. I'll be building a 30' yurt in Colorado, so I'm picking up all the tips I can!
We had some moisture issues and spotted a bit of mold between the wall insulation and the side fabric at the end of last winter. We've got it cleaned up and made some adjustments, so we are hoping this winter goes better. I'm planning to do a video covering our winter prep and lessons learned from our first winter at some point. Thanks for the question and kind words! :)
@@Green_Heart_Family_Farm Thanks for the reply. I want to get a Yurt, mold is my only concern because I live in northern MN where it can get very cold. I look forward to your winter prep video!
We used a wood stove to heat the yurt, and it went well. Insulation is pretty good. In our climate in Western Oregon, managing moisture in the yurt through the winter is a bigger challenge than temperature.
@@OlimjonMatniyazov No heavy snows; frequent rain during winter, though. We are still learning how to balance ventilation and heat to keep the moisture out.
@@Green_Heart_Family_Farm i recently read that Japanese used rice paper walls to absorb the moist and tatami mata on the floor. Do you think it might help your situation?
@@Green_Heart_Family_Farm If you don't want to take the inside walls apart, you can always take the siding on the out side off, and put some foam board in and tape off the seams. You will need diffrent screws and need to recut the side peace on the corners to cover the foam board but it will give you way better insulation.
@@christinaburney5935 Fortunately our winters are very mild here so I don't think we'll need to do that, but I appreciate the suggestions. Always lessons learned after each build!
Hey! I’m sure you mentioned it in a previous video, but can I ask what size yurt you chose? We are a family of 5 looking into purchasing a yurt. Thanx so much!
It is a 30 foot yurt from Pacific Yurts. It's working great for our family of 5 so far. Our oldest is 9; we are wondering how it will go when we have teenagers. Might need more space by then!
@@Green_Heart_Family_Farm thank you! Yeah, our oldest is 11. We are playing with a few ideas but at least we have a good idea where to start now. Your place looks beautiful by the way. 💛 Thanx for responding. Have a blessed day!

Did you purchase a kit for the size of the yurt or did you get measurements and customize all the cabinets and such?
Our yurt is 30' in diameter, which is about 700 square feet. The loft and utility room probably add another 200 square feet of useable space. Thanks for the question!
