For the record, the white spots on the Jade plant at 5:20 is actually salt deposits. I got one from my grandmas place when she passed and it had been in the same soil for a very long time, so it had a lot of these from the buildup. Was a bit hesitant to take it at first, but upon looking it up it's completely benign, it's just how the plant handles salty soil and probably contributes to why jade plants have a reputation of being extremely easy.

From my experience you can wipe the buildup of with a (moist) microfiber cloth, and lots of patience. And using rainwater instead of tapwater minimize any buildup. They do great at pon, instead of reg. potting mix, btw!

The florist on Surrey Street just down from the winter Gardens has lovely houseplants very reasonably priced lovely ladies in there too. Not very many options but they change the stock often and very healthy plants too. Obviously this comment is for people who live in/visit Sheffield

Watching this video felt like deja vu. I went to IKEA the day before and literally said the same thing about the fake plants. Normally I do not watch videos about stores people purchase plants from, because I felt the selection would be different, but it wasn't that much. I decided to watch, because I really like your dry humor and I wasn't disappointed. I also enjoyed how you inspected the plants; I forget and just go for looks often. As for the fake plants after seeing the selection at IKEA, I had a great idea... I'm from the tropics and missed it during the pandemic, so I brought the bush home to me. I especially love my balcony set up, but when I have to bring my plants inside, I lose my outside joy. I think I am going to get a few fake palms for the fall days that my friends and I can sit outside with a small fire pit.

Haworthias and gasterias are both some of my favorites...they can both tolerate lower light and need months without water....highly recommend both varieties and they come in so many shapes and sizes great little accent plants and I keep them in their pots they come in and put them at the bottoms of my bigger plants to sit and live! We have an IKEA about 2 hrs away but I have never been to one....what a nice store! Love this shopping video

Can't believe you have never been to an IKEA! It's great for picking up cheap plants. It's a shame you're two hours away from one. The one I visited has only been open a few years so before I had to travel 2 hours to one.

My IKEA is a 6-7 hour round trip, which is too much for me. Otherwise I would have brought loads of those plants 🥰 I either buy cheap sick plants from lidl or very small baby plants from our equivalent store to B&Q. Which are always very healthy but expensive.

Last time I went to our Ikea in Hannover Germany, i saw a very tempting, huge calathea for 50€. Beautiful plant but i didn't buy it. I go for easier houseplants that make a good and robust friend. But the vibrant colors and the weavy leaves 😍
I thought of maybe buying one fake plant for our bathroom. It don't have a window/no sunlight. I don't fully like a room without a plant. Especially the bathroom. As a mom this is my recharge and calm down room, since i can go alone. Plants help with calming and recharging. Yet i don't fully like to rotate some of my plants so they get to stay in the dark room for a week. (Don't starve 🌴) Still don't know. Still in the process.

That calamondin plant is a popular citrus in the philippines! it has amazing flavor profile.. i keep mine on a south facing window with a grow light. (Vancouver, BC, Canada) i have to guard my plant while my relatives are over, as they will pick some to take home😋 You're so lucky that its so affordable there, as its about $100 cdn .

It's a shame cos my local IKEA (Gateshead) look after their plants so bad.
They are almost always over watered so badly and come with root rot.
Had so many plants from there die on me but then when replacing them from other stores, those were fine.
They are often infested with spider mites too.
Your IKEA looks like they are better with them.
I've sworn off buying from IKEA now unless I'm desperate for the plant, and it's at least 30\40% cheaper than I can get anywhere else
