    I have the first model in the 2500 size. Got it in 2016 and still works good. I've replaced the bearing under the spool (salt intrusion) and the bail spring guide (plastic - broke while using). Very smooth reel.

    You'd be surprised how many people actually think they need 20 lb of drag. Most of the freshwater reels honestly only need like 5 lb Max. 20 lb is for like a 100 lb fish. And even then some people would only use 10 to 15 pounds to fight a 100 lb fish

    • @ericwilliamsfishing
      @ericwilliamsfishing  2 года назад +4

      It really depends on the structure that you are fishing around for big fish. Most of my fish are fine with a 20lb drag reel. I do have a ship that I fish that I gotta keep the fish off.

    I'm needing a new reel for an upcoming trip and this is a STRONG contender. However, I could grab a 4500 Penn Spinfisher VI for $20 more (on sale). I really don't need a 4500 and would get the Nasci 3000. What do you think the buy is?
    Does the Nasci have good enough components to have the right sized reel take priority over the higher quality but wrong size reel?

This saves me having to constantly switch baits and I can't afford to do that with a Vanford price range. Now if you already have a bunch of cheaper setups ready to roll and you just want a new reel as your workhorse, I'd get a 3000 Vanford. Does the frame of this reel flex when under load? I had a older shimano that snapped on me at the reel seat when fighting a bull red fish. Shortly after I switched to diawa bg’s for this reason alone. I’m still a fan of shimano and would like to try a different reel by them and see how it does.
