    An overview of the tools used to create the new GTA 6 video game. Rockstar games used 3ds Max in the creation of all his games, and GTA 6 is not an exception here.
    We will see what different tools are using in different departments, to see 3ds Max used in most of them.

    Big shoutout to Rockstar for sticking with 3ds Max... it's clearly a powerhouse in game development. 👏
    On another note, my team and I tried dabbling in Blender for some projects, and gotta say, it's got that funky charm for little animations and isometric renderings. 😄 But man, measurements and precision in Blender can sometimes feel like trying to juggle cats on a unicycle! 😅 Anyone else had a similar experience?!

    i can't wait what the next gen Euphoria Ragdoll Physics look like! Sadly only MassFX's Ragdoll available in 3ds Max now which is still in ancient 2.8.5 version. current version PhysX Engine is 5.

    I do use 3DS Max as my primary 3D tool but I feel like most of these huge studios had already established a pipeline(including plugin dev etc) around a software they started with. This makes hard, financially, to build a new pipeline around another software meaning that a good artist can accomplish any anywhere (the timeless may vary depending on which software( and version), how experienced he or she is and many other factors.

      no, they can build proprietary converters for any solid SW new hires pick, as seen in their studio walkthroughs.
      They avoid just "free" programs which folds when they throw anything more serious on it.

      Many started with 3ds max including me ,then moved to Maya for rigging & Animation when Maya started to become more popular in 2000s.
      but lets be honest Blender is slowly catching up and it can do the same job if not better in certain aspects since autodesk is not caring at all what it's tools should be. for example Maya viewport is showing it's age, same with the node editor, hpyershade and the list goes on, decades old bugs still exist till this day. and lets not talk about mudbox, they should have just added all it's features to 3ds max & Maya.
      The free part might seem childish, but with the current economic situation it's getting more tempting to use it, we saw how the gaming industry it laying off hundreds of Artists due financial difficulty, paying for tons of softwares , healthcare, salaries ..etc is expensive.
      So cutting that out with switching to another "free software" that could save hundreds of dollars is a smart move, I know few feature film Animation studios who started incorporating Blender in their pipeline like SPA Studios and Sony imageworks.
      so it's just a matter of time before Blender becomes one of the big players and give autodesk a run for it's money , which is a good thing imo hihihih

    Never understood the comparison though. I've used both Max and Maya extensively (used Maya more in production coz pipeline). Both of them are beautiful and dumb tools at times.
    The improvement and feature addition of 3DS max is high these years and Maya is pumping out forced updates past few years.

      @@rayfighter yeah his videoes are neutral. I was speaking about what I heard/read in general. Many students still debate unhealthy amounts of one tool vs other.

      That’s normal blender really pop up recently, so that’s normal than big companies will not change their workflow. Especially when they are in development for 10years.

      ​@trauma2980 blender did no "pop up recently". Look for Blender's history, it has been around for a long, long time.
      Don't fall for the Blender hype - there are tons of videos about Blender on RUclips mainly because it is free (entry level is very low). But on the professional world, the picture is quite different.

    Great news, I hope that with recent improvements introduced in 2024 Max will get used more and more in gamedev.
    The dystopian, moody GTA2 and Vice City are my personal favourites in the series, so the return to Miami I welcome with open arms. Shame it won't be set in the 1980s anymore, it seems.
    I totally agree with you about linearity in GTA and RDR in particular - for game franchises that boast about their non-linear nature, the story missions are often insanely restrictive and offer no freedom to tackle objectives whatsoever. It's always been a problem in many open world games, but latest efforts from Rockstar were especially guilty of this.
