  • Hi everyone.
    Sorry for taking so long to get this video out. I had a heck of a time trying to complete the project quickly.
    I'm about 4 days later getting this out than I had hoped but it's here now.
    This was a simple idea that I tried to pull off and I think I did alright, although not exactly how I envisioned.
    I had lots of fun editing this video. I'm a dork so yes, I was laughing out loud at my own silliness but that's what makes me Fred.
    Come along as I produce this...art??? I guess you can call it that.
    For context to the segment where I weigh the big Quartzite rock, you can watch this video where it was found and see why it shows up in this video.
    • 20 Minutes In Tillamoo...
    Also to see where I found the blue rock, you can watch this video.
    • Slow Day At The Creek....
    Thanks for your time.
    I hope you enjoy.
    Take care.
    Fred

    That looks great I love the slabbed rocks and all the details and the fish looks amazing

      @@Bongus. Thanks. I feel like the fish ended up looking more like a shark but it was the first time ever trying anything remotely this detailed.
      I have some green rocks that I wanted to carve into aquatic grasses, and a worm out of a brown rock, but I wouldn't have seemingly ever complete it.
      Looking forward to making future projects and of course I've got my next one planned. 😁

    Very impressive. Have you ever found jadeite or Carnelian in the yellow bottom above Lebanon. I'm sure you can find Cornelia not the coast too

      @@briankepner7569 Thanks so much. No I haven't. I've never heard Yellowbottom before but I quickly looked and I've read some about Quartz Creek...if that's your area of reference...but seems like there's always lots of warnings to be wary of the private property lines. I'm always happy to add "places to go" to my list. If this RUclips thing works out for me then I'm hoping to keep getting further away from my local area.
      Thanks for your comments... I appreciate you. 🙂

    ❤ It is very cool. I like what you've done, but if it's gonna be a water or underwater scene. Should you not try to get a higher Polish on the stones? So they look as if they're reflecting the water. But all in all, it is a very cool piece. 🎉

      Thanks. You're probably right but it's done now. I did think of spraying the whole project with the clear coat which will give it a wet look like the wood. I appreciate your comment.

      @@sherry2483 Art...if you want to call what I'm doing art...seems to take a life of its own during creation. Everything turns out a bit different than intended and I'm often not as satisfied as I'd hope to be at the end of a project but I suppose it's still cool.
      Thanks for so many comments lately. I love the interaction.

      @@Bongus. Same here. One of my other viewers was real close. Far closer than my guess and I'm the one picking it up.
      I appreciate your participation, comments, interaction. So much so that I'd like to offer you a prize. You weren't technically the winner of the guess since you weren't the closest but it technically wasn't a game. Plus there were only two of you guessing and many games have a consolation prize so why not.

      @just-one-more-rock  2 месяца назад

      @@robertharer6831 Some of it does. At 14:33 of the video...towards the end...I turn off the lights and have it back lit. Mostly just the fish and the one slab in the left back in front of the fish shows light. The other slabs were too thick. There's other material besides chalcedony in the rock which reduced the translucency, so the thicker slabs don't allow light through.

    I have an idea for you to get more views, you should post some clips from videos on RUclips shorts and link it to the full videos

    • @just-one-more-rock
      @just-one-more-rock  2 месяца назад

      I love the idea and have had that same thought but I'm going to follow advice from those that have already been in the RUclips world. I talk with Andrew..."The Rouge Rockhound" and he did an experiment on just that idea. It turns out...that at least for his channel that if you give people an opportunity to have a shorter attention span then they'll take it. That said, during a few months of doing shorts, he lost momentum on his long form videos. It actually hurt his viewership. He's stopped since. I think it's probably best choosing one format and focus on that.
      Maybe I could pull it off but I think you have to make the shorts so appealing that it makes you want to look at the full videos.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I truly appreciate it. I'm only one man with my thoughts... everyone has worth and something to add.
