I thought they was a House Band at Bogards in Cincinnati, Ohio, back in the early 80's. Unfortunately, I never did get to see them Live. It's a shame that you have to search for it on RUclips, just to get to hear it. Their Awesome Tunes, from a very Unappreciated Talented Band, is not played on Corporate Broadcasting, that I have ever heard. And yes, I'm 57 years old.
@@rogerjones6033Back then things were a lot different. I am close to your age and today unless you have a college station or similar, you will not hear them whatsoever. Shooting Star were an awesome band but alas did not catch on as they should. Hopefully a new generation will discover them and use them as inspiration to help save the music industry.

Thank you! As a drummer since '70's to me the Last Chance drum duel with Steve and Gary stands out as the best duel next to Frankenstein with Chuck and Edgar 2nd!!! I also do the lyric Power Point at our church before I get on stage and play drums and sing! Great job!
I am not a drummer but I've always thought it was one of the best drum solos of all time. Great to hear a drummer's opinion!!! I've said this in my comments a million times: I don't know why Shooting Star isn't recognized as one of the greatest bands of all time and "Last Chance" isn't one of the best Rock n' Roll Anthems of all time. Actually, I have a playlist called Rock n' Roll Anthems and "Last Chance" is the 1st song on there!!! Thanks for the Comments Roger!
One of my All Time Favorites, I actually named my last HotRod after this song, my completely restored 72 Olds Cutlass, Hunter Green, beautiful color for a beautiful car, The Last Chance!!!
This song opened my eyes 6 or 7 years back. Made me realize I was headed down the wrong road. And that I needed to focus on self improvement while I could. Life is awesome these days! I feel like this song made that possible. Thanks for sharing this!
That is awesome Jesse. Thanks for the nice comments. It's always good to have positive music and positive people in our lives. Another group that I always go back to is Triumph. They have many positive songs. My favorite(listen to the lyrics) is "Fight the Good Fight". "Fight the Good Fight" and "Last Chance" are my two favorite songs of all time.
@@opuslives9766 I guess I am not the only person in the world that takes inspiration from Triumph and Shooting Star. Last Chance is definitely my favorite and Fight the Good Fight is probably in the top 5 but ranking songs is hard to do.
I saw them at Bogart's but it was in later years with a different lead singer. It was actually hard to watch. Wish I would have seen them in their prime!!!
I arrived in KANSAS CITY,MO, IN 1979, NEVER HEARD, WHAT A GREAT TOMMOROW, THIS SOUND. NOW,2020, (VERY POWERFUL) THANK YOU GREG, FOR HAVING ME IN YOUR HOME. MY 1 LIMOIZEN RIDE, WARREN ROADS, THE BAND MISSOURI, TO MEET YOUR WIFE,+YOUR KIDS, THANK YOU ❤️ DO MUCH, VERY SPECIAL, GO FOR EVER)
One of my all time favorite songs.....Still got the Hang on For Your Life album..........Shooting Star, Triumph and Kansas........All wrote songs about persevering and standing up for what is right......even when you are the only one standing.
No doubt. Rock with a positive message. Triumph is one of my all time favorite bands. They have two of my favorite songs of all time. I still listen to these two songs over and over. "Fight the Good Fight" which everyone that likes Triumph knows. But my second favorite is a little more obscure because it got no play time on the radio, "Ordinary Man"! Great Lyrics! Great Messages! Fight the Good Fight!!!
@@HolyDiverBroncoIt's a Classic!!! It and Last Chance, "The Wall" by Kansas, "The Pass" by Rush and other songs got me through some really tough times and also appeared on my workout tapes back in College!
That's very cool!!! I have a playlist called Rock n Roll Anthems including Stairway, Hotel California, etc... I put "Last Chance" at #1. It has all of the characteristics of the most recognized Anthems but at the same time carries a Positive Message!!!
Saw Shooting Star open for Cheap Trick @ Stephens Assembly Hall in Columbia Missouri 79/80. Hollywood, Hang on For Your Life, Flesh and Blood, and Last Chance, are my 4 favorite songs by Shooting Star.
Definitely all great songs. For some reason, as I've gotten older, "Are You On My Side" has also become one of my favorites!!! Actually, as I've gotten older all of there songs have even more meaning now...
They use to play St Louis Alot, still do on occasion I believe. Kshe 95, local station is playing greatest hits as I sits here with old Kenwood cranked up!
Thanks for the fresh updated recording of the great tune! I'm commenting for couple reasons, one being my that I agree with Eating with Sasquatch 100% and the other a quick note on the editorial included in between verses above. I read you or someone say "Shooting Star should have gone down as one of the greatest rock bands of their time." - Now, in the 80's when this record was released (@81-82?), the local radio FM stations in my town kept it and most of the songs from the Hang on for Your Life recording in heavy rotation for what seemed to be more than half of the decade. Reason being is their fan base in the San Francisco Bay Area / Silicon Valley kept requesting to hear the bands music played on the radio as most of us did not yet have youtube to search up our impulse favorite song of the day if we were too lazy to put the record on. Point being is I remember seeing this band Live in the SF Bay Area multiple times and they were always welcomed, well received, and unique. So, if I were to ask any one of the many friends, colleges, or yard apes of the time from the old neighborhood (most being musicians - still) if they thought Shooting Star should have gone down as one of the greatest rock bands from the 80's, I guarantee the instant response would begin with a sort of sneer look followed up with a correction sounding something like, "Yea?, They will."
Yea, absolutely. I was a teenager back then. I was fixing up my car (69 Chevel) on the weekends at a buddies garage and every Friday night I called up our local radio station, WEBN in Cincinnati, and I requested this song and they always played it. I use to get their music mixed up with other great bands like Bad Company. As I got older I met other people that loved the band and started to realize how many great songs they had. I don't know the story behind why they weren't bigger, more popular. They seemed to only be popular in certain areas of the country or in certain cities. Cincinnati was one of them. They played there all of the time but only at the small venues like Bogart's in Clifton. But they never made it to the big arenas that I know of. I don't want to come across as an expert on the subject because I am NOT! But I always heard that they picked the wrong agent or they weren't promoted correctly... I do know one thing. "Last Chance" should go down as one of the greatest 'Rock n Roll' Anthems of all time. It has everything: the length of the song, the riffs, the jam session, the drum roll, and most importantly The Lyrics!!! How many Rock songs actually come with a positive message? Thanks for your comment!
@@opuslives9766 , I too don't claim to be an expert but I am a maniac (fan). This is my favorite band and this video is very nicely done. I believe there were several problems, none of which the band had any control over, that resulted in them not getting the fame they deserved the biggest of which was a dispute the record company had with their connection in the U.S. that resulted in the band's records not getting distributed in this country for several years. The story can be found on Wikipedia. They are still performing with one original member and the rest having been with the band at various times throughout the years. I will be front row at the show next month in Kansas City. Thanks for the awesome video.

They were screwed by the the record producer. with a #1 song only 10,000 albums were released world wide, as i remember the producers son had a band that sucked ass but the producer saw Shooting Star as competition and shut them down through their first 5 albums . What a shame.
