One of my all time fav songs ever- Shooting Star is a highly underrated band. When I was a hack basement drummer I added to my kit just so I could play Shooting Star songs accurately like Steve Thomas. Shame they never got the props they deserved. They actually have an impressive line-up now, although Steve Thomas is the only totally original member. Vocals and music are exactly like we remember from the early 80’s
This song is true to life.. a girl can start so innocent and gentle and pure.. and if she is beautiful the world finds out and she is seduced and drawn into the machine. All you can do is remember how she was before this happened.
Great job, but I used to be graphic designer at NASA who still does the lyric Power Point slides at our church before I get on stage and play drums and sing, and I must correct one word..."used" instead of "use" ...the verb has a "d". i.e. I used to jam to their albums on my drums in the early '80's, loved playing to Last Chance, Hollywood, Teaser, Flesh & Blood, Breakout and Hang On For Your Life. Great band and saddened with the passing of Van McLain that I never saw them in concert. RIP Van!
I heard this tonight on KSHE-95 my home town station. Brought back memories of my teen years. I Love this Song and Others. Lost opportunity to for sure. But, I am thankful for the great memories Added to my playlist!
Warm up band for ZZ Top at Hara Arena Dayton. General admission, was right up front. Great show, remember Gary West wore pajamas and ran around the stage like a madman. A shame they never made it big.
Special song. I always liked it. Basically the story of Marilyn Monroe, Christa Helm, Jean Seberg, and thousands of girls who moved to Hollywood with big dreams but only found disappointment and death.
With our age it brings back great memories though & I think WE ARE the lucky ones that were able to grow up listening to this when it just started hitting the air waves.

Hard to believe that nobody knows this band, Hang on For Your Life was a great album, they got no credit, sad 😢
Great song great band saw them 3 times
What an amazing vocal and production. It’s too bad the record label did such a poor job of promoting Shooting Star. Crime of the decade.
No doubt Dan! Crime of the decade is right. They were the full package and didn't get their just deserts!!!
Totally agree this band was awesome and the writing of this song is so good
I saw Shooting Star in Cincinnati '83, great show!
I did not get to see them in their prime. I saw them at Bogart's with a different lead singer, not the same!
yep. they were huge here. why not everywhere. they rocked
seen them at the blue note in price hill
